Wow, rockband with all the gear finally came in where we had pre-ordered it in late october.

This game knocks guitar hero (in all variants) square on it's @ss!

My kids and I were playing it tonight and it is GREAT! But as an aside if you are not a
trained drummer already the drums are the toughest part of this game. I have even heard it
said that if you can play the drums on expert level with reasonable competence you should be
in a real rock band playing a real drum kit.

I haven't tried the online component of the game yet, it will take a bit to get good enough
for that, but it looks promising.

Anyone else have the full rockband game yet? Any dissenting opinions?

Yeah Brian, we pre-ordered it a back in late summer/early fall and got it when it was released. Awesome fun game. My wife is the drummer, my 9 year old son is the base player and I play the guitar (I suck). We are hoping to score a vocalist soon and try to get good at it.

It really is a blast and easy to pick up for the most part. When we first gave it to my son he insisted he was going to be the drummer, but that quickly faded after a couple of attempts at the first song. It really is difficult.

Unfortunately, our 360 got the "ring of death" over the weekend and we must send it in for repair. I thought we were playing on borrowed time as we had one of the original units (same deal, bought on pre-buy before release and received on the day they came out a couple of years ago).

Oh well. It's good fun for my son and his friends and will only be gone for a few weeks. He'll just have play the Wii.

Best game EVER!! I've got a "gig" tonight with my wife and son. The only thing that sucks, is that my 60 inch TV is dead waiting for repairs so we are playing on an OLD 25 inch.

Irideabuell,

If it's not been 3 years, Microsoft has giving every owner of the 360 system a 3 year warranty from date of purchase. If you get the RROD in that time, then contact MS and they will send you a new one in a few weeks after they send you a box to send yours in! I don't think it's been out 3 years yet so get to work on the warranty!!!

After playing it more today (including actually getting to use the microphone because the kids had monopolized it since I unpacked the game)
I figured out the only real problem with the game... It came to me during "Don't fear the Reaper" by BOC...

Not enough Cow bell!

I was fooling around today with the character customization: hair, tattoos, clothes accessories and jewelry there is more there
than I had previously thought! fun stuff to play with while waiting for the kids to get home so our band can play.

Brinnutz,

Yeah, we're getting it repaired for free thanks to that 3-year warranty from Microsoft.

It just sucks as we will be without it for nearly a month.

Box to ship 360 for repair was on the door step when I arrived at home last night. It's now sitting in the UPS out box on my loading dock this morning.

Let's see what brown does for me!

Ahhh Rock Band....
I never imagined I would be writing a post on this subject matter on BadWeb. We bought Rock Band from Best Buy the day it came out. It is truly awesome. Being an avid Guitar Hero player, I resent Diablobrians comment, but will let it slide nonetheless. The songs that you can buy and download from the Playstation store are GREAT. It keeps the game new. I mean how many times can we sing War Pigs and the rest until we crave new material. I am unfamiliar with the 360 version and it's downloadable content to boot, but if there is a "360 store" like there is for PS3, check out the songs you can buy. They range from .99 to 1.99. My brother, my cousin and his roommate and I have "band practice" 2-4 times a week. We rotate instruments. I'm currently playing the drums on hard and making my way through the songs about 70-90% notes hit. It is very difficult. But it teaches you. Seriously, the bass pedal is mind numbingly hard to get used to. Singing is also difficult. I am the worst singer of the band. Some songs I can do good at but I absolutely murder songs such as Wanted Dead or Alive and Train keeps rolling...I already had the skills for the guitar from guitar hero.

IrideaBuell,
you said something about your son playing bass. I haven't seen any instruments for sale by the piece. Not until Feb will they start to sell them like that, so I heard. So, it is my understanding that the only way somebody can play guitar and someone else play BASS guitar at the same time is if you have another RockBAnd guitar, say like from some of your other friends that also own Rockband. You would just use theirs. Follow? I mean you would need 2 rock bands in order to play bass and utilize all 4 spots, because they dont sell just individual pieces yet. Or so I am told. But either way, it's one of those games that just rocks. Literally. We are shooting our first music video next week. It will be on youtube soon, I'll post a link here in this thread. It's sure to be a riot.

Yeah, we actually have three guitars - the one that came with Rock Band, the wireless guitar that came with GH III and the wired guitar that came with GH II.

on the 360 the Guitar Hero guitar works just fine with rockband. All of the consoles have
standard controller configurations so it does not benefit the game makers to create a game
with a one-off controller.

We have GH2&3 so I was speaking from experience when I said that it kicks the crap out of
them. Harmonix was smart to keep this under wraps until after they had sold a boat load of GH3.

I will be buying a wireless guitar in the future. With madcats saying that they will be getting
in on that action it should drive the quality of the guitars up.

The individual components for RB on the 360 are not supposed to ship until February 4(?).
I wonder if Red Octane will have any GH3 wireless controllers on the shelf before then.
If they do they can make a good bit of cash off of their old partner's new product.Around
here I have not seen any wireless guitars (for the 360) packaged without the game.

Yes, on XBOX live marketplace the new content is available with songs releasing every week.
Like I said, the king is dead (GH) LONG LIVE THE KING! (Rockband)

Have been playing it regularly for about 4 weeks now with my wife and son. My guitar strum bar broke and was replaced and my 360 is also leaving me for a little while for repairs but if anyone is looking for someone to play with.....gamertag on xbox is:

x Dapope x

I'm usually playing drums.

Diablobrian-
As far as the standard controller configs go, that all makes sense. I play in the ps3 and the wireless guitar from GH3 does NOT work. From what I have read, The RB guitar is Standard Controller config, but the GH axe is not standard. So, in theory I should be able to use my RB guitar for GH. I have yet to test this as we are currently waiting on our SECOND new/refurbished guitar from EA. (strum bar also) I don't know why they are breaking, but it is a big problem. A coworker is on his 3rd. I hope Red Octane steps up, I have not had a single problem with my GH axe and it has been through much worse than my RB axe.

I'm not 100% informed on this but I know Activision made Gh3 and red octane was in on the previous titles. I would think it WOULD benefit them to make their guitars not work in conjunction. Then you HAVE to buy one if you want to play bass. I think I am missing pieces to this puzzle.
