I can't seem to find a lithium-ion battery. Do they make such a thing for a motorcycle and if not, why not?

You need special circuitry to charge them without blowing them up.
Lead-acid is still the best for this application.

Do AGM batteries need special chargers?

Local independent BMW shop suggested that at a CAN bus seminar.

nope , i put one in my wifes blast and my triumph's going to get one . tons of cranking power . wifes bike doesn't get ridden much , but always cranks strong even after sitting for ages .

got mine at advance auto parts , bout $65

AGM is still lead-acid.
The acid is just in a glass mat.
I guess the cells look like poisonous fruit roll-ups in there : )

I hear these "Dry cell" batteries have like twice the cranking AMPS of other bats

Odyssey batteries/

AGM is what is standard on our bikes.
