Since finding this Buell club, I've almost completely left the German car clubs, but there's one event I still always attend.

I'd like to invite ANYONE interested (not specifically german cars, although Audi's and VW's are perfered) to the Audi Club of North America's 2nd annual Quattro De Mayo event in the Smokey Mountains.

Friday May 2nd - Sunday May 4th
Home Base is here: http://www.mitchellslodge.com/
Information here:
https://www.motorsportreg.com/calendar/event.cfm?uidEvent=531575EC-C4FC-C14E-C8F074AABBFCC594
It's free to register, and all rooms and cottages are discounted.

Post up any questions!

Mike, can't see the info without an account.

I always joke that we have the axis powers of automobiles, a VW, an Alfa Romeo, and Isuzu.

I also have an allied '63 Grand Prix. I need to add a Rover, and Citroen to round it out.

I miss my VW Passat. One of the best cars I have ever owned.

WHY THE HELL DID I SELL IT?

Buells and VW/Audi's are pretty similar. Not very spec sheet friendly, but man are they fun to drive, and the handling is awesome. They both are still suffering from a reputation of bad reliability for

ahh, I don't think either have a real bad reputation. My VW is a diesel and I have never heard any complaints about the TDI's.
They will last freaking forever!
well, besides a stock one is slow.
but add a front mount intercooler, bigger injectors, upgraded computer, intake, exhaust, boost controller and a few home-made mods and your good to go :-)

I thought I deleted that. Well, what I was going to say was they are both still suffering from poor reliability in the past.

I decided I didn't like the way it sounded, so I meant to delete it.

TDI's are awesome. They hold their value like no other! Otherwise I'd have a TDI Jetta right now.

The only complaints I had were not mechanical. I had been chasing an emissions issue and had already spent $1,500 in repairs. The last word was that I was going to have to replace both cats requiring removal of exhaust manifolds to the tune of about $1,800 with no guarantee of permanently correcting the issue.

I had very little issues other than that. It was the most comfortable car I have ever driven. The suspension was fantastic. It felt as stable at 135 as it did at 75.

I had the 4Motion Tiptronic transmission with the 30V V6.

DAMN why did I sell that car?

And you're Buell has Ford fuel injectors. So, NO that doesn't count.

I've had several VW's, Scirocco, 2 GTI's, and now Jetta TDI. The Scirocco was stolen when it had 40K miles, not a single problem, but I can't speak to its longevity. 16V engine made it a fast and fun car in it's day (0-60 7.5 sec, not too bad for a roller skate) Both GTI's were still fine after 100K+ miles when I sold them. The TDI (w/ 110K) has had a few problems (bad suspension bushings, broken half-shaft, water pump went bad, heated seat caught fire) The older VW's basically fell apart from the inside out, while the motors were indestructible. The newer Jetta seems to have taken some tips from the Audi department in the interior refinement and is holding together better than the others.

Mine were so hot that on high, you couldn't stand it. I used to turn up the passenger seat heater to keep the pizzas warm.

I had a 1989 GTi 16v that I built into a Autocross race car with 150k miles. Then a 1994 Jetta 8v with 200k miles for my daily driver. I also owned for a short period of time: 1988 Jetta GLi 8v, 1983 Rabbit, and a 1993 Passat 2.0 16v.

Now I have a 2002 Audi A4 1.8L Turbo Quattro 5-speed manual with 105k miles.

Ahh the memories:

That car was built for handling. It was awesome. I would get that thing on 3 wheels daily driving it. I had in car video from the Dragon that was very obvious how it would go into every corner on 3 wheels, and then smoke the inside front tire coming out of every corner. Killboy even had a picture of it on 3 wheels.

This is the current ride, I traded a little bit of handling for 100 times more comfort, luxury, and traction.

(Photoshopped window tint on that last one, but I can dream can't I?)

Mike, that looks damn good on BBS wheels. The hatch on three wheels is insane! If I tried that in my Mustang the tire would fold!

I have a spare set of the stock SVT wheels at my buddy's body shop waiting for paint (next time he get's a gunmetal car) and then some BFG KDWS's for her!

I'm in...

05 Jetta TDI wagon - 5sp and every option I could get except the 6-disc CD changer.

03 Passat W8 - Tiptronic 5sp. Handles better than a 4000lb tank of a car has a right to.

I'm shooting for one of the new CRD's when they come out.

I like my V-Dubs!

Take a close look at that front wheel. It's actually on 2 wheel in that particular picture. Weighing 2100 lb's, plus Hoosiers both help in being able to do that.

The dealer I bought mine from offered me a grand more than I paid for it six month after I bought it. They had a buyer that was willing to pay.
