After a 7 year love affair with my M2 I was really wanting a new bike with better touring capabilities and would have bought another Buell if they made the bike I want. So the M2 is sold and have bought another brand. Time will tell if it will be as good a friend to me as my M2 was. This is without a doubt the best motorcycle forum I have seen and I will still be lurking around. Maybe Buell will build an 1125 sport touring bike and I will come back to the fold. Just wanted to let you all know it's been a pleasure owning a Buell and hanging out with you folks.
Take care!
John

Just wondering. What did you buy?
Best of luck.

08 Kawasaki ZG1400. Picking it up tomorrow.
My first heavy shaft drive bike. I rode a demo for about 4 hours last summer and was very impressed. I hope I like it!

nice Kawi, me likey : )

Edit: don't be a stranger just because you don't ride Buell anymore.
If you want to get away from the asylum that's cool but don't let a simple thing like motorcycle brand keep you away : )

The Concourse is a nice ride. I did a high speed demo ride this past summer @ Carlisle, PA bike weekend. I was surprised how easily I could throw it around for as big as it is. Getting to 100 mph was no problem from any speed. (I said it was a high speed run-not your normal demo ride by any means) My only complaint was a hot right lower leg. I played with the power windshield, but found the lowest setting more to my liking. With it raised, it buffeted my head around a lot (I'm 5'9")

If Buell doesn't come out w/ a Sport tourer in the next year or so, this bike will be on my short list.

Congrats on a nice ride!

Thanks guys. Percy, let me know if you're coming this way on your bike and we can go for a ride. Nice looking M2. I'm sure I will regret selling it but I can't afford to have 2 street bikes.

One of my customers is here right now with a 2008 Concours. He has about 5700 miles on his bike and his tires(both) are shot.

He is enjoying the incredible heat that comes off that engine right now(it's cold here, for Fl anyway).

There are nil heat issues if you wear decent protective clothing.

Just like an XB.}

I've not ridden it. I stood close to it when he brought it by. I could've roasted weinies on the engine...I think he did roast his weinie...he was complaining about it. I told him that he can probably stop some of the effect the heat has on the rider with some barrier products.I have only been on a proto-type(non-running).

I ride with him almost every weekend. He was standing behind me when I posted that last. That is why I added the heat comment. He agreed. It is the first time he hasn't complained about the heat...It is in the 50's here today with a wind chill in the 30's.

I have a sport tourer that I prefer above the Kaw. Just my own personal preference.

I got only about 8K out of my rear tire and 12K out of the front. I don't run mine completely bald but they were pretty worn.

edited for error

What's your buddy wearing?

I rode one for 1,000km - did the Kiwi Rider cover story on it.

I wear leather jeans and Johnny rebs and live in a moderate climate.

Wasn't even aware that people had heat issues till I read it online - some time after I handed it back.

I had none.

I just did a heap of

He dresses like an idiot. I am constantly bitching at him about his dress code.

The heat and humidity here can sometimes be hard to take. Couple that with a heater between your legs and yow!

The heat radiating off the bike, just standing next to it was terrible. And that was after it was shut down.

Looks like you have some gravity issues to deal with there, as well.Riding it with the bottomside to the wind probably helped to keep it cooler.

You're welcome Wilson, hope you enjoy it. I'll keep you folks informed about tire mileage, I've never gotten more than 5000 miles from a rear tire on my Buell so it will interesting to see how long they last on this bike. I have been using Bridgestone 020's on my Buell and they are quite similar to the 021's on the Kaw. As far as the heat issue goes, that does not seem to be a problem here is the Great White North.

That new Kawi sport tourer with the ZX-14 motor in it is pretty sweet.......... For a Kawi!

Based on the size, I figured the ZX14 was a sport tourer...

John, that should be perfect for you (I looked at your profile). But, I am sure there will be a fix for the heat issue(just like the FJR) shortly.
Sport Tourers typically go through tires pretty quick no matter what you have. It is the nature of the beast. Heavier bike with sporty qualities, you know...
