Anyone got some pics? Trying to decide on the new 'copper wrap' in white or black, but other than the close-ups in archives, I can't find any pics to see what I like better....

My S1. The goofy mirrors are gone. I put those bicycle 'third eye's' on. They work great, too! I did that on my old X1, too.

If they're stainless headers, I would leave them alone.
I heard from someone that wrapping the headers is bad for them in some way.
(beats me how though!)

Black wrap, without a doubt. White gets old quick, and looks like old ladies nylons.

Non stainless pipes that get wrapped rot away.

Holds the heat in - long term - makes the metal brittle - stress cracks develop, etc.

You can ceramic coat them white.

Funny...I was reading a LOT of old posts archived here about everyone being pretty happy with the stuff, and "no problems after 2 years", etc....

If your racing and you don't care about longevity - then the tad extra power gained is a good thing - if you want your headers to be good for longevity then why take the chance?

For the white S1W I like the Blue HPC type coating. That is what I want to put on mine.

My personal opinion would be, I have yet to hear of anyone ever having a 'brittle' problem with a wrapped Buell pipe. There are many here who've had their pipes wrapped longer than mine with more running time.

If you like it, wrap it.

If you like it, wrap it.

That goes for a lot of things I can think of!

Happy New Year, Sean!

Thanks Rocketman. That's what I'd gotten from archive posts.

I'm checking Jet-Hot today, but I think they're up to $250.00 last time I heard?

Wrap is something on my list to do this winter, after the oil pump gear upgrade. Don't know why it would hurt the pipe. Being installed for personal comfort, not performance.

Just called Jet Hot. $140 for the chrome-ish look, which goes with the engine and what not.

I'd originally called a local company in San Diego, and I guess they take it and THEN ship it to Jet Hot, and they make $100 for mailing.

Turn around is 5 days. I figure with tape and clamps and 2 or so hours of my time, and I'm well there to the $140 mark of the cleaner spray and inside coating.

Jet hot black fads to gray quickly and a couple of BW'rs have reported that it made them feel hotter. I wrapped mine two seasons ago and have experienced zero problems with it.

Check with American Sport Bike, BWB sponsor. I've bought two sets of silver ceramic headers for a 96 S1 from them. Most likely they have what you want in stock for a 98 WL.

Re bicycle third eye mirrors, if those are what is mounted to the helmet, granted they may be effective mirrors but be fore-warned, it's an equipment violation in Ca. if the vehicle does not otherwise have rear view mirrors, DAMHIK (Don't Ask Me How I Know : (). I guess that means one could have dentist's mirrors as bar-end's and plug that loophole?

the copper wrap with copper paint will look great.

Better option would be www.swaintech.com whitelighting exhaust coating.
