I just got a KBC VR-2R helmet and I'm having problems with it. The little ratchet thing on the right hand side that holds the visor on is acting up. When I put the visor up the little hook thing pops out the slider, then when I put it down the whole visor pops out of the ratchet. It's very annoying, I think the center gear thing is loose and theres no way to adjust it. Anyone else have this issue? I'm thinking of sending it back but I don't want to have any downtime.

Try e-mailing them at sales@kbchelmet.com They did answer one of mine about a shield.

Inspect the whole mechanism, especially in the ratchet area. Look very carefully for hairline cracks. This happened on my wife's older KBC. A dab of 2-part metal epoxy cured it.

I have the same helmet and had that problem!
I took mine back to Cycle Gear where I got it and looked at one of the others. The retaining clip hadn't grabbed hold of the whole peg. And when i opened and closed it the peg would wiggle the rest of the way out. Check it with another KBC VR2

Yes! That's what it does. When I push the visor down, the retaining clip thing opens up a little bit, then the hook pops out of the slider, then the whole circular gear thing pops off. I couldn't see any obvious problems in the ratchet plate. Maybe I can get KBC to send me a new one

KBC has some decent customer service. I was having a problem with the little plastic tabs breaking off of the face shield (The ones that hold it on the helmet). They mailed me a couple of new face shields for free. Its worth a shot.

I'm on my fourth shield myself on a VR-2 due to the tabs breaking off.

The helmet itself is OK. i wish I could splurge on an Arai, they fit SOOOOOO nice.

I have a VR-2 and the only problems with it is the nose piece fits under my nose, and it fogs bad. I got a Scorpion 700 for Christmas, and it fits REAL nice, can't wait to try it out.

I have the Scorpion EXO 400. Best inexpensive helmet I ever owned. I actually don't mind wearing it.

Got a Shoei Raid II, it fit's perfectly,
as did the old one,
the one that never broke,
the one that saved my head!

Thank you Shoei.

I had a recurring problem with my VR-2 tabs breaking off. I contacted KBC, they sent me new sideplates and a replacement shield. Tabs still kept breaking off.

I appreciate the customer service, but I had faceshield problems with my first KBC helmet too(HD branded). Shield would fly open when turning my head at highway speeds.

I added a Scorpion to the stable and haven't used the KBC since. At the point I've spent more in replacement shields than on the original helmet, I've gotta say I'm pretty sure I'm done with that brand.

Yeah, check with KBC...GREAT customer service. My Dad had a problem with the hinge on his flip-open full-face HD helmet. He was asked by KBC to send the helmet. They sent him an entire new helmet. That's customer service!!!

Bah!!! They sent me the wrong ratchet plates. The screw on just fine but they don't actually ratchet and they don't let the visor close all the way. Must be for a different or older model.

ferocity02: if your helmet is a Buell branded model the KBC model designation is VR-1.

That may help you get the correct parts....I hope...
