Thought you might like this. '81 yamaha 650 special. Work in progress. Rear wheel being re-laced with an 18" right now. High pipe coming soon.

I don't know why I have so much trouble loading pictures. All of my files start at close to 1 meg.

oooooh that is a nasty lil ride. Looks a bit heavy though. Waiting for the first riding impressions. I still have that rebel 450 that is egging me to turn it into a scrambler.... damn it. I need summer money with winter garage time.... Did you change the forks ? Did you simply remount nobbies on the stock wheels? Did you relocate the foot controls? I will try and post some pics of the beast in progress, she just might end up with a set of dirt squirtin tires yet.

This little doozy is still kicking around... It's an '81 PE175, and she runs neck and neck with my brother's '86 CR250.

That picture has knobbies on the stock rims, but the back wheel is out getting a new rim right now. She is a little heavy. Foot pegs are stock but I've found some cleated pegs that will fit in the stock mounts. The front forks are scheduled for a rebuild with Progressive springs and a set of emulators. You might have noticed there is already a fork brace on them. Handle bars are flat track. I've since cut off the rear foot peg mounts and the center stand mounts and the paint job is finished on the tank. Sounds like I need a new picture but I'm waiting to get the 18" back wheel installed.

I like that 175!

I forgot to mention, its kick start only now and the battery is a 12V DeWalt. That's enough to get it started and then it runs off the alternator.

this is probably what the honda will end up looking like, though with a rear shock suspension.

305cc - Yamaha Big Bear Scrambler
I had a red one that I geared down and rode in the dirt where it really didn't belong.
Two cylinder bikes, this heavy, are really not woods bikes.
I didn't know any better and didn't care.

Old_Man,

I love those Big Bear Scrambler pipes. I had a blue Yamaha 350 that I really liked.

Old Man, that bike is awesome!!!!!
I actually (don't shoot me!) almost bought one of those before i bought the Buell!

I had a 78 yamaha with a 500cc 2 stroke, not sure what model, it was heavy and hard to start, but when it did run, it was a bat out of hell (until my pops caught it on fire!)
