I know lots of folks like the dual projector beams on the XBs but I for one love the big single light. That is a good looking XB for sure!

I wonder how much work went into grafting the X1 tail onto the XB frame...

Wish that was a production model

I do, but so do the Buell guys. Ask BadS1 about his bike. That whole damn thing will be dipped in chrome before too long. And how many folks here have either already polished or are going to polish the frame on their XB?

Yes it's true, the bike belongs to one of our most colourful members from Italy! Claudyo is well known in the UK group for his outragously gorgeous bikes and girlfriends.

Dyna,
How would the XB12 engine have been a Buell test bed for H-D if it debuts concurrently in the new Sportster? :?

I think that whole test bed theory is complete crap, utter nonsense.

Blake, the XB12 is just a stroked version of the 9. Aaron stated as much, pretty much any major relibility bugs have been worked out by now as far as the motor is concerned.

But hey, you also thought the whole idea of Buell going back to a 1200 was complete crap, utter nonsense too.:D

We will see once the curtain is raised.

Dyna the Harley Man,
Nope never said that nor did I ever think it. Too bad you refused to accept my bet. Could have had yourself a nice steak dinner. You waffled, which was really the whole point to my offering the wager... to show that you really had no confidence in what you were offering as fact. You were dead on 100% right though.

On the test bed silliness... Regardless of the common platform, you simply don't use a lesser stressed, lower powered simpler version of a product as a verification test bed for a more highly stressed significantly higher powered model.

The XB12s are a lot more than just a longer stroke. You been reading the same specifications that I have? Different fuel injectors, different throttle body, different ECM, different pistons, different/active exhaust, different gearing, 24% more torque.

I know a little bit about verification testing and releasing commercial products to market. You don't verify a 92HP engine then boost its performance to 103HP and consider it pre-verified by virtue of its ancestor's record. Won't fly. Sorry. Nope. Ain't gonna cut it.

You stated Buell would not be coming out with a 1200 again.

As far as the bet goes, everyone knows the truth. I stated point blank the 1200 was a reality, but I would not commit if Buell would introduce it as a 2004 or a 2004 1/2model. You wanted me to commit to a 2004 model. Then as soon as Court gave you some insider info you yanked your bet off the table.

Either way...its still fun to be right:D

As far as the model testing goes. Its the top end or bottom that are trouble prone. I wouldnt worry about ecm's, fuel injectors, goofy exhaust deal, etc. Those are pretty much fool proof. Get the crank situated & get any bugs worked out of the valve train & its all good.

Time will tell on this as well, I really cant wait to see what the sporties have had done to them. Whens the last time you ever heard anyone say they were excited about a new sporty model?

BTW Blake, I actually do like the new models. I think they are a little pricey for what you get, but still a hell of a lot better than the 9. better colors, bigger belt, more hp, etc. Now if its reliable then they might actually be on to something.

Huh?

Find me anywhere NEAR that technology and handling for the money.

Where were you in the days we were paying $18,000 for Buells with stock Sportster engines?

Harley Man (Dynarider),
Nope, don't think I ever stated that either. Or maybe I'm wrong. Go dig up the quotes on the SacBORG archives.

Dave,
Really! ROFLOL

Court,
Really! Buells are still the best deal in the semi-exotic really-cool-bike market.

Not going to bother wasting my time looking for ancient quotes. Its history anyways.

Umm Dave & Blake, I said the injectors & ecm cause really how often do you hear of any issues with those? maybe a clogged injector or a pinched wire but thats about it.

Notice I didnt say the valve train was trouble free:D

Right, what's a measely 24% more torque gonna matter? The drivetrain can take it; just throw it in there; no testing required for that silliness. rolleyes

If I was given one sure, but after what I have been thru there is no way I would ever pay for one again. Nice enough bikes, but I really couldnt put up with this crap were it to happen again from the same manufacturer.

Right now we are considering a new rubber mounted sporty for the wife. From what info has been leaked so far it sounds like a pretty nice bike.
