I heard that those monster engines don't last.
(You're not really going to be touring on it anyways, right?)

98 America GT

I had a '98 for a while. My dealer was great, but the factory support was, to be very kind, "weak"--Confederate was actually out of business for a while, not returning letters or e-mails or phone calls. Maybe better now, I don't know.

And my bike had some serious issues:

1) 113" S&S motor had excessive piston clearance at less than 5,000 miles. S&S, to their everlasting credit, stepped up and replaced them at no charge, but Confederate was nowhere in sight.

2) With the motor timed according to S&S specs, it kicked back and knocked a chunk of hard steel off the starter pinion that poked a hole in the primary belt. Replacement belt, although it was the right PN, was too long and slapped on the inside of the primary case, sounded like a rod knocking. Had to go one tooth larger on the motor pulley to take up the slack (there's no provision for adjustment in the proprietary Confederate primary).

3) Rear suspension way too soft for carrying a passenger.

4) etc., etc., etc.

My advice? Run the other way!
