I'm at a long light waiting for the light to turn green, and my mind is wandering -
the light turns green, and i put it into 1st without the clutch and stall it...frantically restart with the people behind me beeping horns...
the light turns red again, and all i can think of now is - you idiot

I never take mine out of first gear with the clutch in eyeballs firmly planted on my rear view mirrors with the wheel pointed toward my point of escape.

I always watch the perpendicular traffic lights.
When they turn red, my bike goes into gear.

x2. Also, it shouldn't take you the length of the greenlight to get the thing started again.

i restarted rather quickly, but i was in a long line of traffic - the cars in front of me didn't make it either - i was watching all around as always do, but for some reason, i just put my toe down to first and stall

I'm with Fatty.
Around here it's not a good idea to be caught in neutral.
I had to run up between cages before to keep from getting rear ended at a stop light.
Can you believe the guy that did get hit was pissed at me for getting out of the way?

Been there, done (almost) that. Some of the lights in the DC Metro area are very long and it's easy to find your mind starting to wander. Took the time to get off the bike and shake off the cobwebs

I checked your profile because I thought you had to be new. After you've been around awhile you'll find out that we are (almost) all perfect and nobody ever makes a mistake.

One of my favorite moments is leaving a bike night with about 200 bikers watching for anyone to screw-up, you know the scene. Starting the bike, dumping in first and stalling!

Been meaning to take that interlock off for sometime.

Not that, that has ever happened to me. Thursday night, I home, and not at Bike night.

An intentional re-test of a situation that was known to fail before.(never an admitted mistake)

"I made a mistake once." I thought I was wrong, but found out later that I was right.
