got a call from a friend today. and because it's not in his nature to call people that often, i knew it couldn't be good. and it wasn't. his wife of over 15 yrs(i believe) lost her battle with cancer this morning. she had been fighting it for the past year with it looking hopeful for a while there. it was brain cancer of which she had two great big scars on her head from going in to i guess try and illiminate it. it wasn't a pretty site but she did laugh about it. her name is carol clark, and she would call herself shenade o'clark to poke fun at herself about the doo. i think she was around 62, 5' tall weighing about 100lbs soaking wet and feisty as any one i've ever known.
she was always optimistic about the situation and never letting on for one moment as to whether she was in pain or not. i couldn't say enough good things about her and how good she was for her husband. she was able to keep him in check and make him forget about any problems he was having. he had told me this on a couple occasions.
my buddies name is jim clark and he is the son of the former mayor of miami from years ago. we met on a job when i was going through my carpenters apprenticeship down there back in the 80's and i got to know him and the other guy's he spent alot of time working with. i would have to consider him the best carpenter i have ever known(and i've been around alot over the years) and i owe alot of my abilities as a good carpenter to what i had learned from him. jim and carol had got fed up with miami a number of years ago and decided to move north and one of the things he was wanting when he moved was to find a place that had little to no traffic lights around and that's when he found walnut cove, north carolina. a far change from miami and everything it offered. they found a piece of property outside of town on an old tobaco farm that still had the old drying barn up. they sat a modular house in the middle of the property and called it home.
i couldn't say enough about them as people and i hope that anyone who reads this will put them in their prayers tonight cause this is especially a terrible time of year for anything like this to happen. services will be on thursday so i'll be taking a little trip say goodbye one last time. for everyone out there, please be thankful for what you do have cause you never know when it could all change.

I have been in a big fight with my girlfriend all weekend. This just reminded me that life is too short to waste it bickering and fighting with the people you love.

Thanks for the reminder and my prayers go out to your friends.
