D'oh!!! This Force exhaust comes back to haunt me once again! I can't use it because it's too loud, and I don't have a stock exhaust! Have fun whoever ends up going!

Tim,

I thought about that, but how much riding could I get in with just doing demo rides? I just feel that Jim's friend is GREAT for offering this up to someone. If I can only get a partial benefit from it, then I would be cheating someone who might be able to use it fully.

Ever since yesterday afternoon, I've been wracking my brain for ways to take my bike! My emotions went from total elation upon reading Jim's post to crushing dejection when I talked to Jim and he brought up the sound restrictions! I have a stock muffler (no front mounting hardware and incomplete rear Force mounting hardware). I've looked on craigslist and tried to contact anyone locally who might have (or know someone who has) a stock header for sale (Jim plus the guy who sold me this S1 with the Force). I've even thought about butchering my Force to try to get the stock muffler to fit (it will already have to get a weld in the header section for a crack)!! I also did a bunch of reading last night on a different forum about Laguna sound restrictions and what people do to get around them. It sounds like you could just keep steady throttle through Turn 5 and up the hill (where they have the sound check booth), but that Force is LOUD. I also read about people who make sound 'deflectors' - basically a piece of galvanized steel clamped onto the end of the muffler (right side) that deflects the sound to the left. I'm DESPERATE, can you tell?!?!

In the spirit of the giver, I don't want to cheat someone from this AWESOME opportunity to enjoy their bike (and Buell's!! ) at LAGUNA!! But, if no one is able to do it, then maybe I'll try it with a sound deflector + run in the middle of the track with constant throttle through T5 (although they may break out the mobile sound check booth). Worst case, if I get kicked off (I believe they still have the 3 strike rule before you're 'grounded') then I can just do the demo bikes.

Some lucky person will have an early Merry Christmas!

Tim,

To answer your question, when I did Inside Pass at VIR, you got 6 20 minute sessions. The first and the last had to be on your own bike. The middle 4 were available for 1125 demos. They would initially only let you sign up for 2 sessions on the 1125, but if space was available, you could ride more. I rode 3 times on the 1125, I could have done 4 if I had wanted to.

So does your harley dearler rent bikes? ;)

Jim,

Were other bikes (XB's) besides the 1125 available for demo?

The 1125r was the only bike available at VIR.

I'm not sure what Buell's intentions were when they organized the Inside Pass program. I have to believe their motivation was to get feedback on the 1125 and get it into the hands of a lot of interested people.

In my opinion it was a tremendously successful program. Buell got a lot of testing and feedback on their bikes, and a lot of people who would never have ever considered a Buell got to ride the bike in a fun setting.

I hope Inside Pass becomes a permanent program, and expands to include the full lineup of Buells. This seems like a much more effective way to sell bikes than having people demo them at sometimes less than enthusiastic dealers. It certainly is a lot more fun than test riding one at the dealership. : )

We nabbed the free ticket this morning. It is going to a non-Buell rider and he is really grateful to be going.
