I met Erik Buell today at the Toronto Bike Show.

What a nice guy. Very down to earth and hyped about the brand. He was kind enough to sign my brother in laws jacket.

Nothing aloof or coy about him and he seemed happy to spend time talking to us about the brand.

Buell had a great spot in the exhibition hall. Right at the front door with an 1125R on a pedestal plus one to sit on.

Even though I'm currently riding a BMW I'm having a hard time getting Buell out of my heart and know that I will be buying another one eventually.

Anyway, just wanted to say it was a pleasure to meet Erik and am looking forward to future products from his company.

Now, who could say something like that about Honda or Suzuki? This once again proves that Buell is so much more than just motorcycles.

Orest:

Great to hear. Erik, and I've known him for quite some time, genuinely enjoys this just as much as it appears.

Hopefully you'll make the trek to Wisconsin, on the BMW or your new Buell, and join us for Buell Homecoming next July.

I'm hoping for the industrial strength porch pass to allow me to journey to homecoming.

I would really like to meet him.

I met Eric at Liberty Harley and BUELL where he was unbelievably easy going and very available to the patrons that day. I ended up taking the guys from Queensryche back to Atlantic City with four other guys. They also were very cool and kind. Eric is the man. I am sold on the Buell brand because of it.

Erik is a stand-up guy in a world that has forgotten how to stand up for what they believe in.

I was seriously impressed when I first met him, and each time I see him my first impressions
are reinforced.

The "Buell Values" tell you all you need to know about the man:

His hand has molded the Buell community as much as it has the company through the years,
with these tenets bleeding through to everything Buell related. It created an atmosphere
unmatched by any other group of riders I've ever encountered.

In short: Erik is THE MAN!

I met Erik at March Badness II. Didn't know what to say to him, other than thanks for making some of the badess bikes on the planet.

Plus it was late and I didn't want to impose on him. I did get a picture with him and the next day he signed my bike as well!

I so want to go work for Erik as an Engineer, I was told they always have openings. However, that would mean we would have to move to the cold part of the country... and I just can't do that.

Now, if I could just convince him to move closer to their test track.. I would have it made!

Ratyson: why do you think I'm back in school to get my degree in mechanical Engineering?

I hope to eventually be hired on as an engineer at Buell myself.

I can't imagine any place i would rather work.

Erik is quite the dude. I met him once when we hosted the world's biggest burnout- pretty cool to smoke the XB's tire alongside the man himself, watching him do the same with a silly grin on his face. Met him again this year at the dealer show just 2 days after the 1125R was unveiled.
Easy going, but quietly intense about all good things, especially his bikes.

A further testament to his character are the numerous individuals that work as engineers, training and marketing, et cetera within Buell Motor Company. To a one they are enthusiastic, sharp, and proactive at their work. Just talking with these folks gives me a boost every time I get to work with them. Hopefully I'll get to attend Homecoming this year.

I read it on the internet, and we all know that makes it true.

Erik Buell is a hero of mine.
