I know there's probably info somewhere here about specific heated gear. Am in the market for some and just looking for opinions on what you all have and your comments on them.

Am looking at several different brands. Any help would be great cause I wanna ride during the winter season comfortably.

Thanks

Gerbing! They've been in business for a while and my gloves are pretty top notch.

I've had a pair of the gloves for a week and I'm in love. My only regret is not getting the medium as these larges are a little bit too much. The gloves seem to run a bit large.

I've had the Gerbings jacket liner for 7 years & the gloves for 6.Both still perform great. They make a BIG difference in winter riding.Well worth the money.

I use Widder electrics myself, not quite as pricey as the Gerbing.

Sunny and I are going to get fitted for Gerbings at the IMS here in Long Beach.

(yeah, we're in CA but we're such weather wimps!)

Widder gloves and vest, Exo3 vest (pricey but excellent and it has an auxillary battery for when you're off the bike), heated grips. All work great and will change your life. Cortech has just announced new gear that seems to be priced very reasonably and the glove are advertised as waterproof. I should have some in a month to test.

Hey Murrae, how's it going. Heard you guys had a great time at the track. I'm looking to do a track class next year, maybe at Freddie Spencers place (saving $ now for it).

Has anyone heard of Warm and Safe gear? It looks like it can only be purchased thru 12 volt clothing .com? They only sell a jacket liner and gloves but they say the gear will plug into several other brands ie Gerbing. It's priced a bit lower than some of the other gear I looked at. It's also made here in the good ol USA.

Hey Jules, how are you? We had a great time at the track day- so good, in fact, that we're sponsoring two next year- one in April and another in September. I've heard of Warm and Safe gear, but I've never seen it nor do I know anyone who uses it. Many folks are using the standard RC plugs these days except for Widder, but they have conversion plugs. The new Cortech stuff looks pretty nice- waterproof gloves and a very neat control system.
We hope to see you next year!

I've had the HD/Gerbings & Warm n safe.

Gerbings has thinsulate can be good addin another layer of insulation. It can bite you though..

Warm n safe no insulation kicks out MAJOR HEAT thermo required!!

Murrae, do you know if the cortech will have a full jacket liner or just a vest, and pant liners too? Do you need anyone to help test them (me)????

Am planning on coming down there again next yr and hopefully going even faster on those incredible, long sweeping corners (Rt 64?).

I have the warm & safe jacket liner. Love it. 30 degrees, 100 mph, and just a t-shirt underneath, and leather jacket with liner over it, and it was fine. Got the heattroller with it, but I just keep it on high anyway.

I know Gerbing doesn't advertise as being waterproof, but I rode 130 miles in the rain a few weeks ago with dry hands

Jules-
They are offering a vest, jacket liner with full sleeves, pants liner and gloves. With all the different stuff I've used, their controller looked nicely thought out. You might also want to check out heated grips- they're somewhat more versatile in that they are there to use all the time and will work with a variety of glove thicknesses. I'll keep you in the loop.

so much for heated gear there. what about plugging in for two up riding or how much gear can you use whether your two up or solo. what will your standard charging system handle or would you have to upgrade.

Gerbing does that too! They sell a distribution setup so both of you can ride warmly. Everything from the jacket, gloves, pants and socks are modular and connect to each other or can be used individually. Next time you're in town, give me a call.

Nice Buell...

Vern,

You are entirely too kind.

We are simply attempting to do our tiny little bit to make the world a more beautiful and more wonderful planet.

Hope that helps.

Well, made the plunge yesterday. Got the Gerbing pants and gloves, my hubby got the pants and socks. Will be ordering the warm n safe jacket liner and controls.

Having a bit of sticker shock tho, that stuff's expensive! This will be our Christmas presents (no tennis bracelet for me this year)

Jumpinjewels, sorry about the delay. I don't have the gloves or the pants. Let me know how you like them, it is expensive, but I think its worth it. I rode many Connecticut winters without it, and I didn't know what I was missing. Probably wont ride without it now. Heated gloves next.
