Knowing that there are a number of photo enthusiasts here (and having enjoyed many of your photos) I wanted to post this here before going the eBay route. I have a used Canon Digital Rebel XT camera body that I am selling. I also have available a Canon EF 50mm F1.8II lens that I am willing to sell, but I'm willing to sell the camera body alone if you don't need the lens. The camera and lens are less than two years old and are in excellent condition. I recently bought a Canon 40D and no longer need the Digital Rebel body. This is a digital SLR camera which takes interchangeable lenses. I have all of the original documentation for the camera and lens. I'm asking $300.00 for the body alone, or $335.00 for the body/lens combination (plus shipping via your choice of package delivery service). If you are interested or have any questions, you can e-mail me at bjackjr at gmaildotcom or send a PM.

How many actuations on the body?
Does it include a memory card, etc?

99BuellX1, I'm not interested in selling the lens by itself. I just listed the lens in case someone wanted the body and didn't have another lens to use.
The actuation count is 11229.
There is a 1GB compact flash card that I will include with the camera body.
Thanks for the questions.

Tim.

I sent you a PM.
Maybe we can work something out if you want the camera, I'm really just interested in the lens.

Yeah , right......
If you've ever tried dealing with that company you will find they are part of a group of stores, all owned by the same family that are the biggest bunch of Thieves and Scammers you will EVER deal with!! You will NEVER get that camera at that price, let alone a USA warranty or any of the items that ship with that camera.

BEWARE if any of you deal with them! They will say they have it in stock, then when you refuse to buy their crappy stuff they say you need to buy for this deal the camera will suddenly not be in stock and they wont be getting any for an undetermined amount of time?(never!)

If you want a realistic price try B&H or even Abe's,Adorama or 42 street. Most of the Internet stores with low prices around Brooklyn aren't for real.....Sorry...I'm venting...Don't waste your time...

I'm here on the front lines of the world capital of photography and can heartily back that up.

Generally . . . when I see the 718 area code, my answer is "thanks, but no thanks".

I went last week to buy a Nikon D3. I'm not thrilled about the $4,999 price and when I saw one for like #3,600 I thought it was a steal. I **tried** to ask questions and the answers sounded bizarre.

My office is sitting a couple blocks from Adorama in the heart of fashion photograpyh world. J&R (where I get a 15% company discount) is less than 5 minutes by train and B&H is a hop-skip and a jump.

If you are buying and are not in NYC, I'd suggest folks like J&R or B&H.

The last thing you want to do is pay like $1800 for a 12-24mm lens and find out you got a phony.

Court

P.S. - the same thing goes for guitars. You will NEVER find a cheaper price than Mandolin Brothers. . . period. If you do, you need to ask questions. I'm going round and round with a guy who says he has all the Custom Shop paperwork for a load of ES-335's he bought and is selling for $1,600. That's like being offered a new car for $5,000 . . . it begs more questions.

Interesting . . . up until the recent intro of the D3 most folks who, hands down, give the edge to the Canon with the Digic II processor.

I've now got friends with "high end" (generally defined as a camera that costs more than a new KLR) cameras who are doing the . . "if it weren't for my investment in glass, I'd change".

I'm eager to see how the D3 performs.

I **may** rent one (since you can rent ANYTHING here - the guy I was behind in line the other day had a $67,000+ rental tab) and give it a try first. I keep thinking that for the same $5,000 body, I could go D300 and pop for a new 70-200VR and 12mm-24mm.

Decisions.

: )

But . . . I'll concede that the stuff you and Dave have been tossing out of your collective Canon's never fails to take the breath away . . .

Our staffer runs a D1 and a year's salary worth of lenses.

The only thing I'm *really* jealous about the body - compared to my bottom of the line Canon - is the speed.

The bigger pixel count would be good - but I get double page spreads out of the D400 with 2 minutes in post processing.

Most of the other doohickeys we turn off and shoot manual anyway.

Apart from that - the cheapie is lighter, more compact and more 'disposable' should I throw it up the road with a motorbike.

Lenses are another story.

Court,
Just got the new D300 this week. So far it looks great. Have been shooting it with the 70-200 f2.8 VR.

Go here to see some shots I took on Saturday.
http://mjrphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/3925542#P-5-16

Was hoping to get a D3 also. Might have to what until net year. I have (2) D200 that I just had refurbished at Nikon. I might be putting one up for sale soon. Let me know if your interested.
I also have a mint condition Nikon 300 mm f4.0 for sale that was fully checked out at Nikon in the past two weeks. Upgraded to the Nikon 300mm f2.8 VR (ouch).
