Never never never bet a D-9 cat can out pull a tug boat. (unless you want to get wet)

If a friend forces you to take his bike for a test ride and right before you leave says "I know where all the scratches are!" A land rover will pull out in front of you and you will break you shoulder.

Do not drive a 94 dodge dakota through 6 ft snowdrifts at 60 mph in NWOhio. Chances are you will be crossing a 12' ditch at some point...

That implies you actually crossed it... Or did you mean "abruptly stopping in a 12' ditch at some point"? : )

On the other hand, you can say you did a stoppie in a dakota! : )

the ditch was crossed, eer jumped, but it didn't like it. If you've ever been up that way you'll know what I mean, plus a few other posts from this thread could be brought into this one: )

Reminds me of one I heard from a fellow railroad employee when I worked in Ohio for a couple of years:

Don't assume a 6 foot snowdrift is "just a pile of snow" that you can just plow through with a ~1980 Ford LTD, it may be a pile of cross-ties covered with snow.

(related to the above)

It's not a good idea to go to sleep in the front seat of a company car, not put your seat belt on, and ride with someone to someplace they've never been before in the middle of a freaking blizzard.

Also on topic with the taser post:

Even though a Russian gangster zaps you repeatedly with a stun gun, it is not a great idea to send him to the hospital.

Incidentally, my working nickname at the nightclub I work at is Tazer (I am glad Stunned wasn't the choice).

totally off topic, but i learned that the front end of a buell will wash if you take a 35 mph curve at 80mph on a road where an angry local chicken farmer has littered the road with chicken *hit.

luckily, the rear end tends to break loose a split second later, realigning the motorcycle, regaining traction just a little closer to the double yellow than before.

don't ask me how i know....

never pretend to taser someone by activating the elctrodes and then turning it of and then prodding said someone. Electrodes still contain a charge, which after use should be discharged on an inanimate, non explosive, well grounded object.

Never reverse the battery connections on a stand up industrial work scooter because the engineer who uses it has a habit of kicking up to speed & drives recklessly.

Never forget put down kickstand when parking.
and when picking up bike in a fury, never lift it so hard that you drop it on the other side.

Don't spit chewing tobacco into the same bottle of beer for which you just finished, and grab another bottle of that same beer...
