Thump Thump Thump... anyone out there? Will someone tell me WHY can't I buy my Buell Stuff directly from the Buell website?

My dealer NEVER has Buell stuff. They tell me that... "OH! I'll have to order it for you" or... "Wait, let me get out my catalog to get the order number for that tee shirt..."

If they are not going to support their Buell customers by having the stuff in stock, then WHY do I need to go there?

Come on elves.... I hate being treated like a step child when I go to my local HD Dealership. Can't you just fix the site to let me buy direct?

Check out Liberty H-D Buell...They've got everything including on-line shopping and better prices and selection than the weak stuff my dealer puts out.

We usually buy from BadWeB sponsors. If they don't have it in stock, they can usually get it quicker than my local dealer and it's delivered to my door with a discount. They also have a better selection (more than one) of shirts, sweatshirts and hats.

After watching 60 minutes last night on how hackers are stealing CC#s and personal id's though retailers wireless connections, I'm doing all my shopping on-line..it's safer!

TJmaxx had millions of customer's personal info stolen because they were too cheap to upgrade their encryption software.

Mel,
Let me break it down for you.

1. The Buell Motor Company, does not supply ANY product or service to consumers.
2. They sell that right to HD dealers as part of the franchise agreement, which gives the dealers an exclusive right to a territory, to sell service, product, and bikes.
3. 99.99% Harley dealers do not stock Buell parts or accessories because:
a. They don't have a Buell franchise.
b. Buell sales make up less than 3% of Harley sales
c. They don't particularly care for Buell anyway.
4. There are one or two exceptions to this rule, most of those dealers are Bad Web Sponsors.
5. Many Bad Webbers, ( Including me:-), buy ALL of their Buell parts and accessories from those sponsors that specialize in internet orders. Appleton HD, Liberty HD, Stone Mountain are HD dealers that spring to mind.
6. For aftermarket stuff, American Sport Bike, and Trojan can't be beat.
7. Other sponsors specialize in high performance and motor conversions.

Bottom Line: You DON"T have to go to your dealer.
Most people don't.

OK?

They don't the stuff because no one buys it, so they don't want to tie up revenue in stock that doesn't move.

No one buys it because they don't stock a good selection.

My local HD/Buell shop has an online Store thru HD.

I think the dealer gets a commission of the sales.

HD (not Buell) Clothes, Riding gear, helmets, collectables, etc.

Some dealers offer 10% MSRP if you buy online.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/dwp/browse/browse_c ategories.jsp?asst=MotorClothes/ByCategory&dwp_dea lerid=143260&dwp_sid=07230951X11K26K2007J8I19I26JP MQ1720R0&dwp_sid_name=sid&locale=en_US

The infrastructure is there.

Looks like, we just need somebody in HD corporate and a dealer to pull a trigger.

I got ya....

b. Buell sales make up less than 3% of Harley sales

I read somewhere that HD sells more in HD Apparel then Buell Sells altogether.(www.hoovers.com) I didn't believe it when I read it, but I am beginning to now.

And your right, I should frequent the sponsors, but I really like trying it on before I buy it. (old fashion I guess)

Sucks to hear it's because of a franchising agreement.

Well, I hope the 1125R changes some HD dealers mindsets.
