As some may remember I was having engine troubles with my XB12R...
Well I was taking to the dealer to have it diagnosed further, I simply do not have the time to do so myself...
Well on the way there my clutch gave way, I figured it was a dying clutch cable...
Nope, some (insert unpleasant word here) service guy must have over torqued the clutch adjustment and the tabs that hold the clutch mechanism in place snapped off.
Not sure which dealer is responsible for this, but either way its an extra $250 I did not want to spend just to get a detailed diagnosis.
So the trip which was supposed to take maybe an hour at most turned into an all-day adventure. Fortunately a friend of mine with a pick-up came to the rescue and took me to the dealer...

This whole situation is just so stupid!
That engine is supposed to last more then 15000 miles and I pay the dealer to do a proper service job instead of brake all sorts of parts!
Heck even my friends Ducati is less of a hassle to own/upkeep!
I have been fairly quiet about having troubles with my Buell over the past several years, simply because that was not what I wanted to share about my Buell experience...
But this is enough!
I would really like to think that my particular bike was just a "Friday afternoon bike" and is just a fluke.
I would really like to replace it with the 1125 but I am, at this point skeptical...

Very depressing, and infuriating...
I am very tempted to sell the firebolt, maybe get another one or something else all together...

I just cannot keep having to take it in every couple of months to get something looked at or repaired...
Something that WORKS all the time, does NOT ping and appreciates attention and proper service!

Thanks,
I really needed to vent

Lets just try not to keep this too technical , because then it would belong in the Knowledge Vault...

Best,
Peter

Peter, sounds more like Dealer troubles than bike troubles........

Hope you get squared away soon!

I personally fix everything myself, and I have a great dealer.

New12r,
That could very well be the case as well...
Although some things went wrong that really weren't supposed to...
I really wish I could work on it myself,
sadly time does not permit me to do so...
Like oil changes/lubrication/minor adjustments that I do indeed do.
Just when it comes to major services (especially before warranty ran out), I took it to the dealer...

I will see what I can work out with them, because now that I think of it; they were that last ones that touched the clutch mechanism/primary cover...

Thanks,
Peter

It really sounds to me like you need to bring the bike to a known good dealership once to have these issues fixed once.

Sounds like they don't know what they are doing there.

Peter,

My hubby got a "Friday afternoon bike" and we finally traded it in for a TT. Best thing we did. The bike never ran right from the beginning, it was a 12R. Only had the bike about 11 months with 3500 miles on it. After trading it in a whole new engine was put in it

Good luck

Yeah... Sounds like a dealer issue.

That really sucks. I feel your pain. Hang tough. See if you can get a meeting with the dealership owner so you can convey your situation and experience to him.

Nate,
The Glendale Dealer has a very good reputation... And they usually do not disappoint. That is were the bike is now, in fact I need to call them and talk to them about the failed clutch mount; as they were the last ones to get anywhere near it (when they replaced my stator).
The really bad dealer is Bartel's... that's where I bought my bike initially (they don't touch my bike anymore).

Julie,
That is a tempting idea, although I do not think I would get much for it...
It also depends on how much it would cost to repair the mechanical and engine management issues.

Donald,
It probably was...

Blake,
I will keep hanging in there...
I think I have an idea who I can contact at Glendale.

Court,
solvalicious, hmm...

I really appreciate the words of advice, and the support.
Thank you.

P.S.
Fortunately my friend, Dan (who should have a statue built in honor of his kindness), lent me his RC51 race bike ("The Nut Cracker") to get around for the time being.
