Here's some original artwork done by Bob Hutchison Esq. for our former BRAG Chapter "The Bayou Thunder Club"...

Had to condense it some for the Club Logo to fit on a patch...

Finished product; a Limited Edition patch...

Only 50 (fifty) of these patches were ever made and very few still available, contact me if interested.

Oh, and if anyone would like to use this artwork, please send pics so I can pass it along to Bob for him to see how it it appreciated : )

This might be some what controversial for some, but what has a horse got to do with any motorcycle? That winged horse with a wheel between its legs looks ridiculous. As for the Pegasus logo, I have never liked it. Horses for courses would seem very appropriate. In others words, a horse has no place on the course of a motorcycle.

Before I get flamed let me just say, I'm aware of Buell's coat of arms relationship to the Pegasus, and I'm also aware of veteran motorcycles of America being referred to as iron horses. But come on, we live in high tech times where motorcycles no longer share any relationship to a pack horse quadruped lump carrying wooden boxes and weary travelers across barren land mass.

Lamborghini have a fighting bull. Ferrari have a prancing horse. These companies have been around for decades with such symbols to represent their brand, but at least their symbols represent a certain amount of realism. A bull fighting. A horse prancing. But dudes, I've never seen a horse with wings. Nor have I seen a horse on wheels.

there, that feels better, lol.

Let me guess. . . a horse just says "oil drilling"?

: )

This, if we try to match various firms logos to logic, is going to be one of the greatest winter threads to hit the internet. I think once we get past the BMW roundel we're pretty much in the twilight zone. . .

I'd dig one of those patches to put in the Buell museum!

So, Rocket hates our Club logo.

Whew, what a relief!

For a second there, I was afraid Rocket might like it;
and then I would have to re-think my entire philosophy on the meaning of life, religion and politics.

I've also never seen a scriptic "T" inside a circle running around the wild, but Toyota seems to like it and do okay with it.

Horses are the accepted lineage to a motorcycle, I was unaware it was just an "American" image.

Of course, it doesn't much matter since Buells are American bikes. I guess we get to just deal with it and cry.

Honda's logo features wings, yet their motorcycles are strictly earthbound. Yamaha's motorcycles have tuning forks, yet I've never been able to play one.

Etc. etc. etc.

"Yamaha's motorcycles have tuning forks, yet I've never been able to play one."

Yamaha was making musical instruments way before they made motor products.

Made for friends around the world from Cape Town to The Gaza Strip . . to Saudi Princes . . to the Kremlin.

My wife was laughing that in a single day last month my cell phone bill had calls to Buell owners (I'm a sucker from folks needing help) in 6 countries.

Funny you mention BMW here, because there is controversy over their logo as well. Some people believe the logo is a white propeller on a blue sky (they started as a airplane engine builder), but some believe they developed it from their parent company's logo (Rapp Motorenwerke). If it were up to me, I'd say it was a mix of both.

I don't see it - the old logo is a circle, letters on the outside in a black border...eh, maybe it does have a bit in common with what became the BMW logo.

Interesting to note the Horse smack dab in the middle though - I don't know who would have thought a horse has anything to do with motorized transportation. ;)

That's because a concert grand is the Honda Goldwing of the piano world. Better start with a baby grand, or maybe even an upright.

You can borrow my Yamaha upright - she's gettin' on 18 years old now and needs a good tune up, but she'll do the trick.

The tuning is the best part . . .

The guy who tunes our Grand in the living room used to play with the big bands in their heyday in New York City.

Three times a year he comes. . . chews my ass for stuff like closing the cover (he wants the ivory keys at room temp/himidity) and not playing it enough to keep the action right.

Then he goes through his tuning drill . . but the part that gets good is when he's done and sits and plays tunes from 60 years ago . . .

My wife is the piano player . . . but Werner is the consummate entertainer!

Yamaha and the tuning forks make sense . . . they are right there with Baldwin in terms of top shelf grands.

I see it tied pretty directly to romanticism for the Old/Wild West in our history.
It's analogous to freedom, independence, roaming, and the plain fact that you "ride" them.

Then again, I'd just as easily compare it riding to flying...

Court ! Is that the Church of the Assenction? Looks like Kiev. Gotta be careful in Russia. The name Buell is very similar to the Russian word был which means "has been", ceased, or stopped. Gotta watch the NO-Va pitfall the Chevy ran into in Mexico ;P

Horses are the accepted lineage to a motorcycle, I was unaware it was just an "American" image.

I disagree with that, but it's not my point.

If I were the founder of a performance orientated (as opposed to strictly commuting or touring) motorcycle company born in the last 20 years or so, I would not want my company logo associated with something as mundane as a quadruped, no matter the romantic or historical connotations towards freedom, pioneering or exploration.

But hey, that's just me. There are no horses on my motorbikes. If I had a horse box, then maybe!

Okay . . . just a minute twinxt grown-up meetings . . . but you guys ALWAYS remind me of funny stories. . .

A good friend and former CIA Intelligence Ops guy Andrew Frankel was a Special Envoy to Zbigniew Brzezinski during what I call the "decommunization" of the former Soviet Union.

One of Andrews tasks was to craft, present and monitor a series of presentations throughout Russia that explained, extolled and attracted folks to, our good ol' fashion form of capitalism.

In one of these talks Andrew, a fluent Russian speaker, was explaining the concept of common stock ownership and how the equity of a firm vested in those holding the common stock, as opposed to the state.

The highlight of his presentation was the crescendo where he explained that no one made you own or not own stock . . . the freedom to choose.

This is where it went awry.

His intent was to say something to the effect "the first thing it requires on your part is a decision".

Somehow, and the Russian speakers among you can provide detail, but the word "decision" and "circumcision" are easily mistaken.

As a crowd of terrified folks, getting their first taste of American Capitalism set spellbound in terror . . . he tried to talk his way out.

Where do I find this stuff? . . . . through the odd folks you guys have forced me to associate with . . in this case another good friend who's Mother is the Attorney General for Germany but he, Julian, decided to move to New York City and open a bar featuring opera singers . . . you can't make this stuff up!
