Wow is it an awesome helmet. Very little wind noise. quality it second to none. The flip down sun glasses are awesome, the sun was very bright today and they worked awesome. My only thing was they glare some. I would recommend this helmet to anyone. BTW its flat black, soon to take it to the paint shop and have some buell pride air brushing done.

I rode over with XB9er when he scored the helmet.

Hugh, IIRC retail is $299 for a solid color, matte/semi gloss are $309 and graphics were $329.

Brian, I would call it an oval shape. It fits like my KBC Airborne(XL), but I needed one size bigger (XXL). I thought from trying on the 700 I would need an XL in the 1000, but it was just too snug and I think it would have given me a headache after 30 minutes.

It has some neat features like a flip down sun visor inside the helmet, so you don't need to wear sunglasses or change visors if you leave in the day and come back after dark. It also has an air pump that blows up the cheek pads (for lack of a better term) for a snug fit.

I took it for a high speed spin when we got back to the shop. Very quiet on the wind noise, but you could feel the air going across the top of your head. I guess because there was less wind noise, it seemed to make any engine/exhaust noise a little louder. Not annoying, just a little louder. Also this helmet didn't "lift off my head" at speed like my KBC.

The only "complaint" that I have is, actually 2, it took forever for Scorpion to get them in the dealerships and two, the color choice/design is bland. The graphics look like white perforated band aids. Chris got the coolest version (so far), which is a solid matte/semi gloss black. I'm sure in time they will have more designs/color schemes out.

I've got the EXO-700, and been lookin' to upgrade to the 1000 (though I no longer have the disposable income- new car, moving, etc.). The one thing that makes my shy about the 1000 is the inflatable pads. I just don't trust little valve systems like that. I'd have been happier if they'd used the 700 padding over again.

The Caberg Justissimo seems to be a better deal, though I'm not keen on jumping to an unfamiliar brand/fitment. Same price as the EXO-1000, flip down glasses, but it's also modular (though it's not as pretty as the Scorpion).

EDIT: Upon further review, it looks like the Justissimo may be history. I just finished checking several different sites, and the only sizes I can find are XS, and some of those are marked down to 1/3 the normal price. Oh well, guess that narrows my options back down, huh?

They're remaking the Justissimo for next year, and theres been a delay in shipping them, or so I'm told.
I love my Justissimo, but because they are modular they are loud, and are not SNELL approved.

I didn't really notice the noise until I bought an HJC (Snell) helmet for racing. Now the noise is very apparent in the Caberg.

toona you probably felt the air because I had all the vents open. But an awesome helmet and the inflatable pads work great. Cant wait to use it again...hey maybe right now!

Maybe you could answer a question ive had since i first seen photos of it. Will eye glasses fit under the flip down shade? Thats a possible deal breaker for me.

yes you can fit your glasses under the flip down shades. If i had to guess there is about 2 inches from your forehead to the shades.

did you find what you needed at a local dealer or have to order it (through the dealer)? i've had the exo 400s and 700s and love them - i just can't find the right size and color i want at any local dealers (2XL Dark Silver, if anyone has seen one). One dealer told me he expects to get about 150 of them before the IMC here in January

How bad was the glare on the visor? Really bad or just mildly noticeable?

Also, does the Scorpion brand come with that piece on the bottom that prevents wind going up into your face?

I rode with the inner sun visor down going into the sun, there was some reflection, but it wasn't distracting to me.

This Scorpion doesn't have the "flap" that you pull out under your chin, but I didn't notice much, if any, air across my face.

Kissell's didn't have the 2XL 1000 in dark silver on stock or I probably would have bought one the same day. I wear an XL KBC, the XL 1000 was just a snug too tight for my liking. To the point I thought it would give me a headache after wearing it for an extended time frame.

I suspect as Scorpion gets caught up on orders/production that there will be more color choices and designs available

scorpion has a $10 "air dam" or "aero skirt"(I think) that fits in the chin and really cuts down on the wind and drafts

Those chin skirts only fit on the exo400 and exo700 helmets, and the exo1000 already comes with one on it. I don't think you would be able to put that one on the exo1000 even if you tried, because the pump setup is right there in the chin. It's setup totally different than the others.

I tried on the exo1000 the other day and was really impressed with it. For the money, it is a really great helmet with lots of goodies compared to other higher-end helmets. The matte black one is on my X-mas list this year.

I was looking at the Justissimo, but saw a review of the new Caberg Trip on webbikeworld. I bought one from overseas through ebay, they're not available in America yet. It has a rotating sun visor like the EXO-1000, but is a flip up. I like it a lot, it fits much like my Scorpion EXO-700. Pretty quiet for a modular, too. And I really like the look of this helmet. The internal visor is dark enough to be useful in bright sun, which is a complaint some have had with the Scorpion. Including shipping from overseas it was less than $275. No DOT certification though.
