(KSDK) - There have been two recent attacks in the St. Louis area involving drivers who were outnumbered by motorcycle riders. Both happened on October 28 -- the first one along Interstate 270 in Maryland Heights; the second in St. Louis City. The first victim called police as he and his 10-year-old daughter were being attacked while in their vehicle. He told a 911 dispatcher that "there are 50 of them and they are trying to take over the highway. I'm trying to drive. This guy just threw something at my car." The driver said his vehicle was also being kicked as he was driving northbound on I-270 approaching Interstate 70 in Maryland Heights. After the driver finally told police his exact location, the motorcycle riders had taken the exit toward St. Louis City before officers arrived. "We've had isolated incidents were single motorcycles were reported doing wheelies or doing stunts, driving at high rates of speeds. We get those calls all the time. "But it's very unusual to get a report of 40 or 50 motorcyclists harassing motorists," Maryland Heights Police Capt. Bill Carson said. The second attack happened in St. Louis' Soulard neighborhood. A driver told police several motorcycle riders threw a rock through his rear vehicle window. A back seat passenger suffered minor injuries after getting hit with the rock. Police have not yet made arrests in either case. It was unclear if the two incidents were related. |

I'd be wanting to hear a rider's side of the story first. |

Or at least a confirming report from another motorist. |

I don't believe there to be "another side of the story" worth hearing. Do you throw rocks through other driver's windows while you are in your car? Obviously we don't have all the facts here, but if there is any validity to these stories, even if the driver did something dumb, the riders are going to be seen as thugs and troublemakers. |

that's a hell of a toss, while riding a bike on the freeway, to get get a rock through a window. |

With people hearing stories like these, I'll have to think twice before honking or giving them the friendly "salute" or they might just try swerving at me for fear I might throw something at them. |

I think is was mostly people riding enduros on the street in big groups and being complete asses. I-270 in Maryland is a major highway. There isn't any enduro posse roaming the freeway. In any case, hat's off to anyone that takes on a car on a motorcycle. You're a bigger fool then I am. |

"I'd be wanting to hear a rider's side of the story first." OK, here is my side. I ride and I ride a lot. I live near St. Louis and travel I270 5 days a week to work. Last month on my way home I exit 270 onto Rt30 and head west. This area is popular with the kids doing wheelies and stunts on their import 600s and liter bikes. This day was very different. About a dozen of them were riding west on 30 doing maybe 40mph and had all lanes blocked riding in a formation so as to block all lanes. 30 has a posted limit of 60. They had traffic backed up behind them and refused to move over to let anyone around them. I followed them for about 8 miles this way. I was right behind them. The leader finally had to stop at a red light. (its a four lane highway but with lights once in a while). I pulled over to the far right onto the shoulder and drove up to the front of the pack of bikes. I ask him what was up with blocking the highway. Three of these little shits came back with a bunch of smart assed remarks. The light turned green and they pulled ahead quickly but soon slowed back down to even a slower pace. The drivers behind them were outraged. I was too but also ashamed that a group of motorcyclist were behaving in such a way. They finally pulled off at High Ridge Missouri with lots of gestures directed at the other motorist. The incident near downtown was on North Broadway close to a M/C only bar called Shady Jacks. This incident involved a group of 1%'s that took exception to the actions of a motorist. I dont know the exact problem they had with him. |

They had traffic backed up behind them and refused to move over to let anyone around them. That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. I remember reading a story about a group of college kids who basically blocked of an interstate by driving the speed limit (as a protest to the speed limit being too low). At least that had some kind of purpose. This is just dumb. |

Ruff Ryders here in CA will pull SH!T like blocking the freeway to do stunting and film it. These videos are always popular with the "gangstaz" at the IMS - just watch for the large crowds (should I say crowdz?) blocking the aisles... usually standing there watching these Gawddam urban stunter videos. SH!T like that pisses me royally off. |

Glad us guys around here have an abandoned dock around here where we can stunt at..=) Now, when people cut me off and damn near kill me (happens alot around here), and don't acknowledge me after I pull up and say, WTF with my hands, I really want to kick their door in. But I don't, though I should. |

There was a big to do In Dallas not long ago as well... someone here actually posted the link about it. One of those idiots had the gall to shoot at a car. Where's Hell's Angels when you need 'em? I'm surprised the old bikers are putting up with these little brats tarnishing their "biker" reputation. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on November 12, 2007) |

The nice thing about stupid punk kids, on "crotch rockets", is they are more vulnerable to natural selection than other idiots. |
