it's a k&n filter from some aftermarket s&s cleaner i found digging through the size specs and the c/l diameter of the element worked out to about my planned c/l perimiter which i then teaked to match the filter, which ofcourse used to be round... but thin section k&n are pretty flexible and it was not a problem to make it a funky trapezoid

and i machined a back and front plate, and a few standoffs, and a venturi cone thing, (not shown) and plumbed the head vents and temp sensor in.

i love Calvin & Hobbes. this is from "flight 247, non-stop to stoney gulch" i forget the flight number actually..

Excellent job, is that bike fuel injected? Like to make me one?

thanks

it is injected. it's on my 2000 X1.

it requires a little work to run the crank vent lines, would be nicer with the xb valve cover mod maybe, i dont know. as is you need to chop the rear vent/bolt and put an elbow on it. then a section of the oem line can get used to get into the airbox. the front line is a straight shot from the front head into the air box. (you'll never ever have to oil the filter)

I love that cover. Been a C&H fan from way back. Got my self the hard cover collection for a b-day gift last year. I want to get a Spaceman Spiff tattoo to go with my othe space-sci-fi-comic book ones.

Awesome work! I'm sure you could sell those even without the engraving.

reepicheep, several years ago i had a few vinyl stickers cut. i took one and used it as a mask for a little glass bead blasting. it never had the depth to make much contrast and i ended up getting a Pegasus cover. it's still in my basement somewhere but it's not for sale.

my engraving software, V-carve doesn't handle curved surfaces, unfortunately or i might have tried that myself.

same comic on a clutch cover

i still have a C&H on a toboggan and that sticker may find it's way etched onto the polished frame of my wives xb someday

My wife and I named my son Calvin. I came home from work this summer to find him standing in the front yard wearing a bicycle helmet, elbow and knee pads, and roller skates while trying to hit a whiffle ball off a T with a baseball bat.

Little Calvin learned a brief but important lesson in physics that afternoon.

He has also named his bike Mary Jane and wants to ride "a Buell like Spidey's on a race track sometime."

Sweet filter. Really flows with the lines of the bike.
