Guess I'll have to kick this off....

I HATE having to change tires between street and track. Why can't Buell make a bike that will grip the track as well with cheap sport-touring tires as with set of $400 racing slicks?!! I can't believe I have to constantly swap out tires just to ride faster on the track! Why isn't this a recall issue? It isn't safe trying to race around a track with the stock sport-touring tires! This is a serious issue that could threaten life and limb! Why hasn't Buell issued a recall?!! I guess they'd rather ignore the issue than make any attempt to protect the safety of their customers. Why haven't they issued a safety recall!!! I demand to know! Someone answer my question! I will not accept that no one will answer my question!! The stock sport-touring tires on my Cyclone are dangerous when pushed hard on the track! Why won't Buell issue a safety recall on the sport touring tires? People could die!

Everyone would know it was a blatant lie if I started spewing forth the Buell propaganda:D

Blake, there is a simple answer to your tire problem. Get a real track bike, lay off the Donkey Bike, you are just gonna wind up broke down or dead..maybe even worse

I'm not concerned for myself. Why doesn't Buell announce a safety recall?... Someone could die! Aren't you concerned that people could die?!! Why doesn't Buell issue a safety recall?!

I think they should recall every secondary drive belt they ever sold, and replace them with durable, strong chains. Those damned belts break too easy and cost a lot more than 2 high quality chains. If they ran the chains in an enclosed oil bath, they'd easily outlast belts, and probably quite a few U-joints on shaft driven bikes. The superiority of belts is purely propaganda.

Now Crusty, that's actually something of an idea, so it doesn't really qualify as an anti-Buell tirade, but it is a good topic. I vote they simply beef up the belt or whatever it takes to make it last 50K miles.

But why won't anyone answer my question?! Why won't Buell recall the sport touring tires?! Someone's daddy could die!

Why don't they issue a recall on the rear turn signals? A couple of weeks ago I was turning the bike around in the garage. I backed it into a stud or something and guess what, the left rear turn signal got pushed forward and broke. I pushed it back and the turn signal still works but I'm going to have to replace it!

Try it on your Buell at home. Back into something sturdy and clip one of the rear turn signals. See what happens? Why doesn't Buell issue a recall on these faulty turn signals?

I agree, and why don't they make the transmission automatically go into first gear when you park you bike on a hill. I don't know how many times I have chased after my bike as it ghost rode down a hill. Some little kid could get killed by my riderless bike hauling ass down the street. Damn Buells.

P.S. anyone want to pay too much for an M2 so I can buy my wife (read "me" ) a new XB?

Blake,
Didn't you read the warning in your owners manual? You have to wear all the tread off the tire before you take the bike on the track. The only way you're going to get those sport touring tires to grip is to put 15,000 miles on them and make them "slicks". I think it's in your service manual right between the notice that your seat being loose can cause serious death or injury, and the other one that tells you that inadequate safety precautions can cause serious death or injury.

Man, I can't believe you missed that...

James

Sure Charlotte if your not happy with men you could always swing on over to the other side!!!!I hear they are real caring and understanding!!!!!

Bwhahahahahahahahaha

I agree with Crusty - Is it my fault that my belt broke at 21000km. I didn't do that many wheelies and I don't think the day drag racing at the track or a little overtension had anything to do with its demise.

Bloody Belts

Wow. My childish joke has grown to adolescent proportions.

Just so everybody knows, for better or worse, I coined the phrase, "Buell Dork" to describe myself many posts ago. Meaning I stick to my Buell even when it appears not to be the most prudent course of action. Of course I have not ever encountered a situation where sticking to my Buell was not the most prudent action, but I'm just trying to make a point.

Carry on.

Really, IMO the trick is going slow in high traffic areas where they like to hide and lettin' loose on the backroads.

Whether or not Motorola is faster depends on how close you are to your destination.

It wasn't advice anyway...just jokin'...

I typically do not split in the city, but out on freeway traffic jambs. City stuff is too unpredictable.
