ALOT OF DEALERS SEEM TO THINK THAT THE BATTERY IS NOT UNDER YOUR 24 MONTH WARRANTY. THEY THINK IT IS 12MONTH PRORATED, THIS IS NOT TRUE. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEM WITH YOUR BATTERY IT IS COVERED UNDER YOUR 24MONTH UNLIMITED MILE WARRANTY. THIS IS TRUE FOR HARLEYS TOO. I VERIFIED THIS WITH BUELL CUSTOMER SERVICE.

That only covers the battery that originally came with the bike. Any H-D replacement is only going to have the 12 month warranty after that. Remember to carefully word what you say here. If you are unsure of your warranty on your battery, the best option is to have a dealer inspect it. The dealership also requires a 24 hour charging and diagnostic test before they will warranty any battery. So long story short, if the test says your battery is good, there is no argument. Just buy a new one. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my service department:

And the battery can still be crappy because after it gets back in the bike sometimes it can slowly lose its charge. Then the argument can then again continue.

Just buy a decent battery like YUSA when the stock one dies. No need to argue. Mine died after 9 months, I bought a YUSA, and it's been good ever since, that's almost four years.

I have found that testing a battery after pulling off a charger right away is pointless.

Unless the battery in question is *really bad* a marginal battery will pass, the static charge will hold long enough for the tester to test good, wait ten min. and then it is back to being marginal.

Glitch,

No arguement on the YUSA but HD's battery's are top notch. Mine has been in my bike now for 4 years going into the fifth. I put a tender on it but only starting November through mid April. Just changed out today my brothers Road King battery. Its a 97 been in now according to him 6 years. It had a hard time cranking the Twin Cam S&S 124.lol

smokescreen, When i am talking about the 24 month new bike warranty ,i would think we all understand that we are talking about the battery that comes with the bike. If we are talking about replacing the battery under warranty , the dealer is going to be testing the battery. The words that should be changed is "My local dealers" I'm in Maryland . I'm not here to slam dealers ,I'm here to tell riders that a battery failure within warranty is covered.

I ride my xb12ss 1300 miles to the GA. mtns. three times a year . I have been to two marchbadness and the resent buelltoberfest. You have the best roads ,the best riders (3%ers), and great dealer support (Stone Mtn.). The help the dealer and your rider group give to visiting buellers is like nothing I have ever seen.

I understand what you mean. You also gotta realize this is the internet. People will read into what they want and then I've got a bunch of people wanting me to warranty something that clearly isn't covered.

I do my best here to keep us as pro-Buell as I can. If you have a problem with a warranty question feel free to call or email anytime. Ask any of my 3%er's if I B.S. them. I was just trying to put out a fire before it became a problem. Carry on gents.

One more reason for a battery tender. My battery has died twice while on a two week vacation in which I shut off all power in the garage including the tender. Both times it came back with the same tender with a two day charge. This year left it on and no problem. Its a stock HD battery that is now 5 years old. It has never left me stranded while on a ride. Also I always keep the terminals clean and tight. A dealer might not warranty a battery if it will come back after a charge. Other problems might be in the works. Just my $.02 worth. Bob

There is a good chance the "H-D" battery is made by Yuasa, anyway. they make them for a high percentage of US and Japanese OEM's in the motorsport industry.

A bit humbling.
I've always thought of myself as the slow one, I do enjoy riding with the best though.
