I'll be over there wednesday night thru some time on saturday. I'm not sure what set of plastics I'll have on (most likely black) but amber wheels and FL lic plate is tq_freak

Is there anywhere/time people plan on meeting up?

i'd rather spend 5 days on the road to spend one day in sturgis than go across the state to spend an hr in daytona trailer/car week. i hope you guys have fun over there. be careful too.

Neverenuf - I totally understand what you are saying but I am kinda stuck. My dad's coming down from up north to ride around in the FL sun for a few days. I could care less about the parking lot that is main street. I would rather be going north to Georgia.

Has the fall classic turned into the all trailer show already? damn, its an engine and wheels, ride it. trailers are for boats.

yea, heading down to suches in the morning. the only thing i'm not interested in doing over the weekend is get involved with any law inforcement. so more than likely will stay around in georgia the whole time. i could show you some pics of fun times at bike weeks long ago and i guarantee that you would never recognize me today. still got the shovelhead but i don't have no long hair and no long beard anymore. none the less, it's not for everyone.

I could see how it could have been a blast a few years ago but any more its all "look how much money I wasted on this chopper I drive 5 miles a year"

I get a kick out of the amount of IN STATE trailers I see, yea Florida is a big state but come on! ride the damn thing

went over to the rat's hole bike show with a guy so he could enter his 250 harley that he restored and it was so funny to see how many trailers you saw parked around the corner and even watching some of them pull their bikes off and pushing them over to the line waiting to get in. of course you can't get in if the bike doesn't start up so that get's even funnier watching these poser's sweat trying to get them started. it's just gotten to be one big joke and then factor all the weenies in the cages that want to check everything out even at night with the kids. well to late for not allowing me to get started.

Dang, sounds like everything is a bummer.

I will head over (live ~50 miles away) Thursday and hit Destination Daytona. JP is now open, Ness carries Triumphs and Ducs you can check out, lots of bikes and people to watch. Head to White Eagle for awhile then ride the loop. Hit Kustom Works and some other shops. Stop at Pub 44 on way home.

Friday go to speedway to do demo rides and browse all the vendors that used to be on Beach St. Then Main St for people watching and Big Engine at the Boot Hill. Hit Millers and Pub 44 on way home.

Sat. avoid Daytona but go to JB's Fish Camp for lunch and then Last Resort for their Old School Chopper show. Stop at Cabbage Patch and Foxhead on way home.

I don't know but it sure beats going to work! If you can't find something you like to do at Bike Week/Biketoberfest then what can I say??

Frank

BTW I am not a member of the Daytona Chamber of Commerce but if I have to hear about the old days any more acck! I have been going to Bike Week since 1980 and it is bigger now and different but geez it is still a lot of fun.

You might even get a look at a new Buell (chopper) while there. I think there is a bike in that photo.

Hey Frank,
Gotta agree with you on your Daytona thoughts. Even for the people watching it is worthwhile making the trip.

We are planning doing a walk around at Destination Daytona and around manufacturer tents at the speedway before heading back.

Hopefully the lovebug population has shrunk by then. I rode up to my business partner's house in north pasco county and they were pretty thick in some areas.

Anybody riding up (at legal speeds) from SWFL? I've been on the fence whether or not to go, but I'd like to see some of the new bikes out now. Plus, I haven't ridden the almost mighty FZR for any distance in two weeks already.

There is also a St Pete bikefest at the Pier on Saturday October the 13th. I haven't seen much advertising for it but there is a bike show, Teresi Dyno drags, vendors, Poker 'walk', drawing for free bike, etc...
I know Wes and I will be there.

As for the love bugs...has anyone noticed that they seem to be getting larger? I think they may be breeding with locusts...Damn UF!

Hi Pammy & nevernuf.

C`mon i like riding over to Daytona Just to watch the show, What a circus. I have seen people do some of the most stooopid things over there.

It can be a nice ride if you take 50 across the state, Going through Howie in the hills is always a hoot.

Thanks for the heads up on the St Pete bike fest. But this year is a no go for me.
Having my knee scoped next week. All those years of motocross finally catching up to me.

Funny thing is i`m actually in the market for a big bore enduro for some off roading.
Talk to ya soon.

Buellbo - I got an email from Jim's last this week saying they would be at the Pier, not at Jim's. As a matter of fact they won't be having their BBQ due to the fact most of the staff will be at the Pier.

Weird, that there is not more advertising.

Just a note to those coming to Daytona for Biketoberfest, watch out for the speed traps especially on A1A and US1.

Don't forget the steak sandwich under the school bus at the Iron Horse.

eric- good luck on the ortho, i had orthoscopic surgery done on my knee done about 8 yrs ago and it seemed like it took over 2 yrs for it to stop hurting. my email address out of town is nevrenuf1@yahoo.com , shoot me a pm and let me know how your dad is doing. haven't seen you on the web lately and i hope things are ok.

mute-good luck on the races down there, seems like you work for some good people over there.

pammy-have fun at st pete, right now i'm not missing tampa in the least, although the kids have no intention of leaving. of course with a free place to live why would they.

and to everyone else going to biketrailerfest, be careful and have fun.}

Tell me your kidding about 2 yrs of aches after your Ortho.
I just want this out of they way, We have some great riding weather coming in the fall.

Hows Rotzaruk doing. He went through some tough leg problems a while back. Seems like were all getting older.
