I know it's not "buell" but it's "hoggin'" my lift and ECMspy is calling my name. But I've got to replace my primary chain amongst other things and I can't seem to get the main shaft sprocket removed from the shaft. It feels like there is a magnet holding it on (like stator rotor etc). My quick question is:
Does the BLUE arrow sprocket separate from the RED arrow bell in this photo WHILE ON THE SHAFT? Or do I pull the whole thing (sprocket and stator bell) with the primary chain and clutch assembly? I hope to make this a quick post.

It is being magneticly held in place!

It will come off, you just have to pull and overcome the magnets in the rotor.

By the way, why do you have to replace the primary chain?

Thanks Swampy!
60K miles pulling a sidecar (Liberty sport #026) has created a very noticeable tight spot. And the clutch and tensioner are shot. It is time.
Thanks again.

Pull the whole thing off together,it is bolted together from the backside. It can be a bitch with the magnetism holding it on.

Correct!

Correct!
