I don't really consider any of the other STOCK Harleys "performance" per say

Does the rider count as a performance mod?

Thats what I was thinking... I was schooled on my Cyclone by a guy on an Electra Glide, and by Ferris on a Road King.

Now that I have had the 9sx on the track, I don't doubt I could spank them both six ways to sunday... if they were on the Harley on the track.

On the street, a good Harley in the hands of an expert rider can take advantage of just about the entire "prudent street riding" spectrum. By the time they are exceeding the theoretical limits of the bike, they are pretty much exceeding the theoretical safe limits of the track (correcting typo... I meant street here).

There is a member of the BADWEBB who goes by Ferris Bueller, and HE owns the Road king, in question

BTW Ferris as he is affectionately known
by, has probably schooled more than a FEW squids,
The RK in question has quite a bit of metal missing from the bottoms of its floor boards, His riding exploits "are the stuff of legend"
His Riding companions are "founding members of the BWB, Including Erik Buell his self"

While I was with the Bratpac2 group
I attempted to follow him down the dragon
he was there several minutes before reepi and my self, it was rainy that day as well.

Its likely all you would see of his sled is the tail light disappearing in the distance..

and If I may sir

Who pissed in your koolaid?

It was fun following Ferris around on my Uly when he first got the RK after riding sport bikes awhile. FB=
Then he finally wore some of the chrome off the RK's disk brakes and it got serious!!!
The man can ride for a fact.
On top of that both FB & D are just great people.

All I was stating is that the idea of Indian, HD, even Victory are not performance machines in any way is a very generalized bad assumption. If thats the case Honda should be removed from the performance category since they produced the Shadow. So that must put them in the "geezer-glide/cruiser" section. Yamaha fits as well with the V-star, Triumph due to the Bonneville might as well be in there... The list would go on. My statements were to just rebutle the idea that not all machines were considered to have any kind of higher performance.
If that were the case all aftermarket enhancement products would be useless then.

thx guys.

the Road King may actually be a keeper. it's just a short ride away from showing 19k on the odo, hauls a butt load of cargo with all-day comfort, knocks down amazing mileage for such a barge, looks like a million bucks, and will, in the right conditions, keep a sportbike rider semi-honest.

FBDO: i helped Blake start BadWeatherBikers back in '98, and have posted here under several screen names since then, including Ferris. welcome to BadWeB. here's a shot of the RK up in Michigan last September, on my way to visit Matt Ware:

yep, i hafta agree: it sure don't look like a performance bike. : )

Thats an accurate statement,
especialy after watchin' JB2 Ride his Vic

AS with most sleds it's the nut holdin' on th' handle bars that makes the difference..

Boy was that good BBQ! My mouth still waters at the thought of it. The music didn't hurt either...

The victory was out in front of me as well... but not as far.. : )

If we had gotten more then 15 minutes of dry pavement on the whole trip, it would probably have been different, I could have used the 9sx's additional lean angle and stickier rubber to compensate for my lower skills. That being said, Ferris and JB would *still* probably have been way out in front.

And for the record, it was a fun, reasonably fast ride on very challenging roads under fairly challenging conditions (rain most of the time), and everyone had clean and drama free rides.

well, it's been awhile but can't pass this up...
okay, so FB tries to not wake me when he crawls to bed at 11:30ish last night.
This morning I find out why he is up "late" - couldn't get his swollen head outta the office door - well - those were was his own words.

.... and rightly so. : )

Been on some absolutely remarkable rides with this feller (ON THE BACK!) and home every time safe and, yes, sound. Trust is not an easy thing to earn - especially if you've been on your own scoot and been around for awhile - then to climb on the back ------ YIKES!

Thank you again, Mr. Bueller, for getting me home safe. : )

You know how many people he'd have to answer to if he didn't get you home safely?

Didn't think I'd ever say it, but I think ol' FB has matured. joker

D, in all seriousness now, please don't EVER refer to yourself as a "feller" ever again. Picturing your babelyness associated with that word violates too many tenets of what I hold dear and respectable.
