I am looking for a dealer or independent to service my XB12X. Who is the best Buell tech in the state and why?

Might want to mention where exactly you're located..it'd help..but, I know there's a Dealer in Kalmazoo, though I have not been up there yet.

I just don't know where Harbor Springs is...North, South, East, or West?

My garage.

The only thing I can't do is warranty work. IE free stuff covered under warranty.

Warranty work is what I'm after right now. I'll keep you in mind for other stuff Spiderman. Do you know any of the guys at Detroit H-D in Centerline, Mi? That's where I had my bike serviced at 1000 miles. They didn't do the recalls when I asked the service manager to make sure it was done. He said it was. For all I know the tech was probably never told. I had them look up my VIN today and the recalls were not addressed. I don't need that kind of BS especially when it's a 600 mile round trip and a day or two off work. Just looking for someone I can trust.

I bought mine at American HD in Ann Arbor. They are primarily HD, but have been willing to work with me to do what I wanted done. They had not heard of the '07 re-flash on the '06 with the '07 airbox cover, but were willing to look at e-mails I brought in. Gotta give them good marks for being flexible.

D3r3k has had a bike at American for over a month and they still can't figure out what is wrong with it.

Detroit used to, and I think he still may be there, have a really good Buell tech. Rides them etc, but getting thru the idiot service manager is always the problem. Always check with Buell customer service to see if your recalls have been done before picking up your bike and make sure they are before you leave. Ask to see old parts talk to the tech etc...

75 miles north of Travers! You in the UP?

Harbor Springs, about 5 miles into the famous scenic highway M119, Tunnel of Trees!

And I am assuming Classic isn't a suitable Buell dealer? That might be the ultimate problem with having a multi line dealer, they have their hands into everything, and are not experts in anything.

Harbor Springs is in Little Traverse Bay. The tunnel of trees is going to be better in about a month. No tourists and you can rip it up pretty good without seeing too many cars. I have a problem with the C.S. at Classic. The techs may be good, but my pride keeps me from going to them for service. I'd take the bike there if I could get a few good references from customer's with bikes and not lawn equipment, or H-D's.

Spiderman,
Are the service manager's initials J.W. by chance? He quit and there is a new guy temporarily. J was really cool to work with and treated me really well. He just f'd up on the recalls which kind of bugs me since I had specifically asked that it was done...several times. Oh well, shit happens.

Re: Dealer in K-zoo
I stopped by to attempt to get a shirt when visiting there mid Sept.

They didn't have any shirts, other than a few odds on the clearance rack.

I didn't look in to service,as I live in PA and was just visiting-looking for a Buell shirt...

The 2 times I have been there the have had the line up of Buells front and center. The 1st time they were outside, in front of the front door, The 2nd time, they were lined up next to the main aisle right inside the front door. Of the 6 or 7 on the floor, only 1 or 2 were not '08's.

Hope that helps.

Kzoo, Perry HD Buell. A friend of mine is in partnership with the owner of that place. I found a salesman there last year that was an x-Buell owner, as he was too short legged to operate a Ulysses. Has anyone tried the HD/Buell dealer in Jackson/Cement City? Town and Country?

I am stuck up north in a horrible bikeless condition this weekend...

I am about 10 miles from Town and Country. They are not the most Buell friendly dealer but I know they had a tech that rode an S3 and knew his way around a Buell, but I can't say for sure if he is still there. If I get a chance I'll check this weekend.

Until recently I could recommend Northwoods in Gaylord. They dropped Buell a few years ago, but continued to work on non-warranty work. My last experience there was awful.

However, they now have a New owner and a New name: Zip's 45th Parallel. Maybe they'll consider selling Buell again.

BTW I'm in Petoskey.

Brad,
You know, I saw your bike at Cormack's on Wednesday while getting lunch. I live over in Harbor. My wife's parents own Gurney's. Maybe we could go for a ride sometime. I get a chance once and a while.

Have you had any experience with Classic? I'd consider going there if I knew the techs were good with Buells. There is also a guy in Charlevoix that works for Maxwell Bros. shop. He's supposed to be Buell certified.

You guys need to keep an eye out on the Stormfronts, Detroit Hooligans!

It would be nice to drive past and at least wave when we are up there!
