Sounds similar to the Temperfoam armor Andy Goldfine has been using in his Aerostich Roadcrafter and Darien suits for years. Actually, more like the next generation of that technology.

Hmmm.. Well, if they make a helmet with that I will certainly look into it. Though a true HUD in the helmet would be nice too.

I bet the gear wouldn't have to be as bulky and would have a greater degree of comfort ....

That I dig !!

I think you guys have been had. That looks more like a Monty Python skit to me. At least that helmet had to been designed by them.
Or then again maybe it was just the accents.
RUN AWAY!!!!!

This will revolutionize the jockstrap and cup industry.

That looks similar to the stuff BMW is starting to put in their gear in Europe.

Here is their site with a little video. I'm interested.

I like the orange ball he squezzes like a stress ball that doesn't deform when hit by the hammer the best.

DJ, only protects where a bone is close to the skin, soft tissue areas such as the abdomen will get no benefit.

Wow, that video makes me now want more info on it. That stuff would make for some good armor in jackets and helmets. Heck, gloves even.

so for the cup you'd have to have wood for it to work? and I'm guessing even then the boys'd still be in trouble.

Then again if you're involved in an activity that requires a cup and you have wood there are already some issues that
will need more work than I care to think about, unless of course it's coed football or wrestling, then it's all good.

Why, oh WHY did I go there?

Yeah I wrote the post, then added the last line on edit.

I figured it was funny enough to leave up, even if it was a bit....out there.

Line from the article:
When I went to see its inventor, Richard Palmer,

Yes... I giggled. More than once.}

I got another chuckle out of this one:
During the time I spent hitting him over the head with the shovel, Richard appeared to suffer no ill-effects.

This stuff sounds interesting. They say it has to be up against an area where bone is close to the surface in order to have resisitance... but I wonder if they could make a hard backing type shell for use on areas like your back?}

Thanks for the heads up Steve.

Stuff looks pretty cool. Right now I'm wishing it was a publicly traded company (so I could buy stock). That stuff would be great in riot gear, or whatever else the cool kids wear in mosh pits.

Looks like the same stuff I saw an article on in Scientific American or Science News Weekly about a year back. If so it actually changes how its molecules bond together under an impact in near instant time. The wow factor is so big its slow getting accepted.
If it continues to pan out it's going to be as big as teflon.
I'm with Chainsaw, I'd love to invest in this one.
