I wanted some opinions on this bike. 400cc V-Twin

I am in Japan and can pick one of these up for about 900$ it is a 93 with 15000 Km on it, or about 12K miles. Its in Awesome shape and would mostly be to put around on. I was wondering since it is a Japanese specific model how hard are they to get registered in the states. Also does anyone know if there is a racing class state side that this could eventualy be put in?

Thanks

It's a little brother to the Honda NT650 Hawk GT. I have no idea how to title something like that, though. And being a non-US model, it would be difficult, at best, to get any kind of MOTOR parts here (notice I said MOTOR parts, as the rest of the bike AFAIK is the same as the 650...). The only other 400cc of that vintage that I know of that was brought into the US was the Yamaha FZR 400. The Yammies are great on the track, as they put out a respectable amount of power for a little IL4, and they're as flickable as hell. As the 650 version of the Honda only has about 40 horsepower stock, I'm not so sure the 400 version would be very competitive unless you threw a LOT of money at it, or are one HELL of a rider!
It would be fun to just scoot around on here. You certainly won't see too many others, and if you do decide to sell it here, the RC31 platform has a pretty good cult following (that, and the 400's close-ratio transmission is desirable to Hawk racers...). If you are looking for something to track, look for any of the small displacement race replicas that they have over there (CBR125R, VFR400R, GSXR400, et.al.). The VFR400R in particular would be a RIOT on the track! Oh, a Suzuki RG500 Gamma might be fun too!
