Is there an avenue for disputes in the classified section within our site? I lost out on sale posting several days prior to the eventual buyers but the seller never responded to my messages until after he sealed a deal with the new buyer. | ||

I think it's the seller's perogative. On ebay, it's a contractual agreement arbitrated by a third party. Here, everything is a private sale. If he got three "bids" and liked someone's bid better (or preferred to sell to someone he knew), it's the seller's choice as to which he is going to honor. Sorry you missed out. Sometimes part of the benefit of the deal is dealing with good folks. You may have lost out on a monetary "deal" but saved yourself from dealing with someone sucky. I've gotten "deals" and wished I hadn't. Most here on BW are great. Some are not. | ||

When I am checking the ads, I look to see how many times the advertiser has posted. Some people find this site, sign up, never contribute, but use it for a Postaroo.com Ask your buddy Ralph (Message edited by swampy on September 26, 2007) | ||

If I find something I'm interested in, I usually post/respond in that ad as well as send a PM to cover my bases. | ||

Well I posted in he ad after he posted it was still for sale after apparently not selling on eBay and I kept checking to see if he would follow up on his post. then I saw he try to bump it and some one else had sent him a PM several days after my original post. So I PM him and explained that I previously expressed interest in buying the jacket and for the most part he blew me off and got indignant in his PMs to me. Good news he will never get any of my money and as they say "it all comes around" | ||

like swampy said, how many times has this guy posted. i had a problem with one person when i parted out the m2L after the daughter got hit on it. blake had no problem with letting me post what had happened hoping that it didn't happen to anyone else. other than that, i've only had one complaint from a guy that i tried to have some brackets fabricated and the holes were off and the guy didn't own a drill to open it up. offered to buy it back and pay shipping so he wouldn't be out of any money but he declined. there's to many good people on this web site not to try and be as honest as i can be with them. what goes around, does come around. | ||

Expressing "interest" is not good enough I've found out when dealing with buyers. Money speaks for itself, you've got to deal fast sometimes. I only PMed the guy about that jacket, didn't post, and he seemed to be upright about getting to me first because I PMed him before the next guy. When buying and selling stuff and only dealing in written e-mailed text things can go south in a fury. Don't be too quick to judge, nor too quick to get angry. | ||
