My brother had a 73. Right side shift is real wacky, his was kick only....ever heard of Sportster knee? It seems the kick starters occasionally slip, in my Brothers case, his slipped, lost all resistance in the kicker arm, and he hyper extended his knee. Our Dad was there when it happened, he said He CRINGED when he saw it happen. I believe he was out of work for three months. Just another thing to ponder. They are easy to work on though. good luck |

Sometimes I miss the XLCH, wrong side shifter and all, newer XL models just don't seem the same as though they lost some orneriness along the way. Just the right amount of attitude like the right amount of kick in a bowl of chili, enough to make you smile but not enough to make your ears burn off. The kick starter was a two edged sword, sometimes it would release, sometimes though it would kick back, the perfect tease never letting you fully relax when starting it. Ornery. |

"No wives involved"!!! I still don't believe it. When was the last time some guy said, "I can't get rid of the bike, my wife won't let me..." I guess she's a pretty cool chick though! I'd say I'm "cash poor," Pammy, but the truth is that I'm just poor. If I can't sell the Yamaha for a winter project, I'll have to trade it for one. I'll PM you. |
