I'm thinking of going to the Inside Pass at Mid-Ohio and I was wondering if any one has any pics of their bikes "race" ready. Also looking for anything that I could do cheaply and effectively that would make the day go easier.

I have a '03 9R with the race kit and frame pucks. Other than that all I have done is remove the passenger pegs and supports.

Thanks a head of time

I think they just have you tape all your lights (head, turn front, turn rear) except brake/tail. They'll check brake pads, tire tread, fluid leaks, and might have you remove or tape your mirrors to "make" you focus on the next turn, not the guy behind you. I'm expecting them to make me remove my S2s saddlebags, but I'd much rather have pics of me riding close to knee-down on a "bagger", LOL.

You might want to put your passenger pegs back on. They will save your tail section if you happen to low side. During track days I take all the lights off except for the headlights. It only takes about 15 minutes. Looks a lot better and less stuff to break if you happen to crash.

Check their website - they are very specific about bike preparation. Much easier than you think - it's NOT race prep!!

Mostly taping up lights and removing turn signals or taping them up too (I'd recommend removing)

IMPORTANT! - when taping, use the Blue 3M safe release type masking tape (can't remember the exact name but you'll know it when you see it at Lowes, Home Depot, Menards or any hardware stor). Duct tape, electrical tape or plain masking tape is gonna make you F$&%ing MAD when you try to take it off at the end of the day and it leaves all the goo behind.

Pull the fuse for the headlights so the tape doesn't turn into a gummy mess....

Also had to safety tape my tire weights on, used black duct tape this last time, just leaving it there since my wheels are black.

Wrapped blue tape around the signals, tail light and headlight. Since my bike's headlight isn't super bright like those projectors you have I didn't pull the fuse.

Check your tire pressures, fluid levels and have the bike clean so they know if it's leaking anything.

Have fun!

My normal procedure is to remove the mirrors, license plate bracket, and all four turn signals. I also pull the fuse for the headlights and unplug the tail light. There is a fuse you can pull to disable the tail light, but it will trigger a check engine light. I then use blue painter's tape (looks like masking tape, but much easier to remove) to cover the headlights, tail light, and speedometer. If you really want to go all the way you can safety wire the oil drain plug(s), oil filter, oil fill plug, and axle pinch fasteners, but most track day organizations don't require it unless you are running at the advanced level.

It's a little bit of a pain to remove the rear turn signals and license plate bracket since you have to pull the plastic off the tail, but it really cleans up the rear of the bike and it's that much less stuff you have to buy if you do crash.

Perhaps most importantly, you should bleed/replace your brake fluid if you haven't done so recently. Nesba's rule of thumb was to replace it if it is more than one year old. A track event is much more taxing on your brakes than spirited street riding, so you want to make sure your brake system is up to snuff ahead of time.
