My last serious female was more or less afraid of the bike, and made it clear that she would rather I didn't ride, but also knew that telling me to would have been a bad move. That wasn't a bad scenario, as far the motorcycle was concerned.

The current squeeze has been on the back of bikes all her life, and got her endorsement a few years back. She has yet to own a bike (recent college grad), but I'm hoping to get her on the Blast she's wanted for a long time now. Can you beat that? A totally hot chick who not only WANTS to ride, but wants to ride a BUELL without my convincing. Priceless ;)

The ONLY thing I'd give up my bike for (aside from total bankruptcy), would be if I decided for myself that it wasn't worth the risk with regards to my kids - In the future, I may not want to leave young ones fatherless.

I don't plan a being a dad anytime soon, so for now I'll just keep dragging those pegs all over the road.

I've thought about it both ways at various times in my life. I sometimes tell myself if I ever get married, my tolerance for risk must go down including getting out of riding street bikes. Other times I decide consequences be damned and I've gotta live my life. I'll just mitigate the risk with a larger life-insurance policy.

I think when it's all said and done, I'll just spring for the fat insurance policy and just ride a little more cautiously than I currently do. I don't ride every day or even every week because I am lucky enough to live close enough to my office and campus to walk, but I couldn't imagine not being able to stroll out to the garage and admire my ride and swing a leg over her and ride off into the sunset any time I feel like it.

I have not found a woman yet that could sway my opinion on that sentiment, golden pootiepoo or not. When I meet women, I make it a point to talk briefly about my passion right up front on the first date to let them know that it's a package deal. If that's a deal killer for them, so be it.

I told my woman that my bike, car, and guns came first, and that I'd only sell one to get another.

We've gone through some tough times financially but I still have all my stuff.

Taken me two divorces to find Sunny. She owned two bikes BEFORE we got together. Now she owns half the racebike too (she still won't try it on trackdays yet) - we'll BOTH be on the track for Inside Pass up here in October.

Just a thought....

But, if ya really love someone. Why would you ask them to give up something that makes them happy??

I have ready many times, guys are willing to give up their cycles because of kids. Most serious riders have a gene that requires x number of ride hours to be themselves. So I believe that to stop riding is mistake. For many years I put my wife ahead of my Bikes, she is gone but the bikes are still here. Don't stop riding, quit listening to the liberal babble and think freely. Allow your kids to know you. Married life and time will change you in ways you will likely not comprehend, your current girl finds you attractive, maybe being a rider is one thing she likes. Sorry for the long post.

I will sell vehicles, cars & bikes, when necessary to make ends meet. I sold my only bike for an ex for "her" because she was afraid for me, their dangerous, we need the money, etc, etc... only for her to walk out for different reasons. I learned my lesson. I will never be without 1 motorcycle.

I'm sure we've all read this, but it seems fitting...

Why Motorcycles Are Better Than Women

Motorcycles only need their fluids changed every 2000 miles.

Motorcycles' curves never sag.

Motorcycles last longer.

Motorcycles don't get pregnant.

You can ride a Motorcycles any time of the month.

Motorcycles don't have parents.

Motorcycles don't whine unless something is really wrong.

You can kick your Motorcycle to wake it up.

You can share your Motorcycle with your friends.

If your Motorcycle makes too much noise, you can buy a muffler.

You only need to get a new chain or belt for your Motorcycle when the old one is really worn.

If your Motorcycle smokes, you can do something about it.

Motorcycles don't care about how many other Motorcycles you have ridden.

When riding, you and your Motorcycle both arrive at the same time.

Motorcycles don't care about how many other Motorcycles you have.

Motorcycles don't mind if you look at other Motorcycles, or if you buy Motorcycle magazines.

New Motorcycles must be asked for, and if you don't want to pay for them, you don't get them.

If your Motorcycle goes flat, you can fix it.

If your Motorcycle is too loose, you can tighten it.

If your Motorcycle is too soft, you can get different shocks.

If your Motorcycle is misaligned, you don't have to discuss politics to correct it.

You can have a beer while riding your Motorcycle.

You don't have to be jealous of the guy that works on your Motorcycle.

You don't have to deal with priests or blood-tests to register your Motorcycle.

You don't have to convince your Motorcycle that you're a motorcyclist and that you think that Motorcycles are equals.

If you say bad things to your Motorcycles, you don't have to apologize before you can ride it again.

You can ride a Motorcycle as long as you want and it won't get sore.

Your parents don't remain in touch with your old Motorcycle after you dump it.

Motorcycles always feel like going for a ride.

Motorcycles don't insult you if you are a bad rider.

Your Motorcycle never wants a night out alone with the other Motorcycles.

Motorcycles don't care if you are late.

You don't have to take a shower before riding your Motorcycle.

It's always ok to use tie downs on your Motorcycle.

If your Motorcycle doesn't look good, you can paint it or get better parts.

Your motorcycle thinks a little a gas is a good thing.

You can't get diseases from a Motorcycle you don't know very well.

I had three bikes when we got married. I sold the Sportster and CB 350 to help buy the house and the Gold Wing died at the teeth of cold and homeless chipmunks. I went a year without a bike and she kept insisting I buy one so I Blasted. We have serious issues but motorcycling isn't one of them. Of course, I also drive like an old lady and only take turns at 10 mph over the posted entry speeds...

You can get hit by a bus walking across the street. Yes, I agree that by riding a motorcycle is added risk BUT by me having my bike, I have seen and done many things that I would not have done in my car. AND I have met the coolest people and have made life long friendships. People I would not have met by driving my Civic around town. I think the risk is/was worth it.

My girlfriend and I came to an agreement years ago that she would play golf and I would ride motorcycles, and never the 'twain shall meet.

Works good.

On July 8th this year I "gave" away my beauty to the slide of death. I regretted it the second it happened. Broken collar bone,2 ribs, shoulder. Yeah you could say I regret it. Never thought licking the pavement and kissing a guard rail could be so dang painful.
Never give it up, never.

My Beauty, poor girl.

I've had passing fancies of giving up my baby for a younger sleeker model.
I realized how stupid those thoughts were when I once offered to sell her for too much and the guy actually considered!
