I want to make my first post upon returning to BadWeb an apology for my past behavior. I made the mistake of taking out my anger at my bike and it's manufacturer on my fellow BadWebbers. I offer my sincerest apologies and will try my best to avoid committing such errors again.

BG.,
If the need to spew surfaces check out the new "SacBoard" topic; you'll be right at home. Not all of our members have yet found this temporary home, but once we get up to speed I'm sure we'll be as offensive as ever. As an added bonus, we don't bother with apologies; direct confrontation, unveiled threats, and lit-bags-of-dog-crap-on-the-porch seem to work much better for us.

Wb Buellgrrrl, I do swear sometimes "cant we all just get a long" has gone TOO far, but then again this is supposed to be a fun escape from the rest of the day. Keep the lit bags of poo, that is not what sharing is about ;)

Thanks everyone. The summer long (my fault, parts didn't take that long to arrive) belt replacement is just about complete. It's been a frustrating job, just lining up the holes in the isolators with the holes in the swingarm took a couple hours. I suspect a lot of the hassle is due to the changes Buell made in the isolators during the model run- everything is now a very tight fit. Hopefully it's a job I won't have to do again.

On the BMW front, after the old airhead upstaged their new hexheads and oilheads in the Iron Butt, BMW got even by jacking up the price of airhead paralever driveshafts from $400 to $700. That's a bit much for a design mistake that often barely lives past 30,000 miles. I just replaced the original paralever shaft on my R100GS at 58K, when it comes due for a major rebuild around 100K It may be smarter to junk it than rebuild it. Fortunately the R80ST and R65LS just keep on going despite closing on 100K miles. None the less, I'll probably open up the ST this winter and the LS next winter just to make sure everythings OK for another 100K.

Suffice to say, if BMW had there act together like they did in the early '80s Buell sales might take a nosedive.

I was shooting at BMW, not Buell. In most market segments BMW and Buell are not even competing. For example, BMW has no competitor for the Blast or XB. In fact, the Blast is almost alone in it's class and the XB competes more with Ducati and the Japanese sport bikes. The Uly is more a competitor to the Triumph Tiger, but it's such a competent bike that it's taking buyers away from the R1200GS, whose price has gone through the stratosphere. Unless it turns out to be a lemon, the new 1125 will steal sales from everyone.

BMW's are very nice bikes however, you are right about the price. They are now becoming the German version of a HD. Overpriced and totally overrated. Doctors and Lawyers are the only guys that can afford the head aches. I hope that Buell does steal the thunder from everyone. Blast's,Uly's, 1125's and XB's for everyone! GO BUELL!!!!

You got off easy,i began the task of doing isolators and grew frustrated to the point i REMOVED the frame to do them.Which also led to swingarm bearings. The belt/pulleys are easy on the X1,did them last year

Welcome back. How about some nice play by play photos of your various tear-downs and rebuilds. Lots of us totally dig that kind of stuff here. I can relate to the M2 isolator replacement ordeal. The second time around for belt replacement was much easier for me.
