My wife and I will have been married 15 short years on Oct 31St and we are having a hard time picking a place to go. We have done the Vegas thing a bunch and the lack of $$$ is keeping us from a return trip this year. SOOOOO one idea we have kicked around is heading to the hills and renting a cabin. I bring up Suches Ga for obvious reasons and it hasn't got the warm welcome I was looking for.... What we need is a nice cabin with cable, a place to do some bank fishing or boat rental (my wife loves football and fishing) and good food near by. I may put the Uly on the trailer for some short rides around wherever we end up. Got any suggestions? Post some pics and links if you got them. I have Oct.27Th to Nov.4th off. FYI When have all the leaves hit the ground in Northern GA? |

Maybe this will help warm the reception for Suches. This is "C3 Central" in Suches. Might give you both what you want. http://suchescabinrentals.com/coopersretreat/ (Message edited by Ulywife on September 12, 2007) |

Also do a search for Helen Georgia Rental Cabins. A lot of the cabins in the Helen area with all the creature comforts, and still close to the river. Either way call NOW! This time of year it could be a difficult search, unless y'all feel like camping. Congrats! Happy anniversary! We're coming up on #16 ourselves. |

It's a beautiful cabin and EVERYTHING is provided. All you need is your personal belongings and food. Jean (cabin owner) is great to work with. We've rented that cabin for MBIII, MBIV, Buelltoberfest and already have it reserved for MBV. You're less than 10 miles from T.W.O. and we know the food there is excellent! If you rent there, tell her Kristi sent you! |

Wolf That topic scared me, I was afraid ol' 777 had gotten you into serious trouble. If she's not happy with Suches, Helen may be a pretty good compromise, she can visit all the little shops, you can be to Suches in a half hour or so. For day trips, Atlanta and even beautiful Chattanooga are within range. Haven't been there in a few years. We used to take the Boy Scouts every year and camp in Unicoi Park, and go one evening and terrorize Helen. If you go don't mention Troop 36. |

I owe her some fishing. This year has been nothing but Motorcycle related stuff. Between all the rides, MSF & Riders Edge classes I teach and getting my racing license.... She is getting burnt out my 2 wheel hobby..... HEY ITS CRACK FOR ME AND I GOTTA HAVE IT!!! I need to do something nice for her. I can't begin to tell you everything she does to make my life as nice as possible.... |

If she tolerates you pretty well, and all you need to do to make her happy is take her fishing............... CHERISH HER!!!!!!!!!! sounds like a rare and wonderful arrangement to me Load her up and bring her on down here, we got lots of fish. Of course, I guess there are plenty of fish closer. Depending on when they drop the lake, I could even put you up one weekend, not much in the way of amenities, but your own dock with bream, bass and catfish. Got lots of stuff to look at here, and all kinds of ways to spend money. Ya'll come see us. |

Think Virginia !!!! http://www.depotlodge.com/ They have satellite T.V., good trout fishing (there is stocked trout waters not run by the outfitters if you prefer) and very good roads for two wheels. The general store can set you up with the proper licenses for fishing. The buffalo BBQ is very good at the Swinging Bridge Restaurant. The folks out there are awesome. |

Our original plan was to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway from Hillsville VA South and then go to FL for few. But... We have concerns that all the leaves will have hit the ground by the end of Oct. So we are open for a different destination... But we gotta head south to a warmer climate. |

Drop by Virginia on your down. Xduc lives over the mountain from me and there's lots of great riding and great eating between Waynesboro and Charlottesville. We've also got University of Virginia football games going (not sure if there's one that week or not) and if you let me know I may be able to score a couple of tickets gratis....never know. |

Oh yeah, I second Wisconsin - especially Northern Wisconsin. And if you want to go a little further north, check out the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Those are my old stomping grounds and I'm actually from Homestead, WI/Iron Mountain, MI. Late Oct. will have you getting some chilly nights, but the days should still be pretty warm. UP weather is hard to predict, what with all the lakes around you. |

Check out this place. http://ratracegetaway.com/ It's in Blue Ridge Georgia so it will be pretty easy to get to and great mountain riding, lakes, rivers etc all over the area. The only negative is the place looks a little big for one couple but my lady and I will be checking it out soon. |

We spent Labor day in north part of WV. the Canaan valley area. Would be awesome bike riding.. we drove the cage. Blackwater falls is very nice to visit, FREE. And it's near an awesome german bar that has great food and good microbrews. We did some old train rides and a canoe trip. They also have some white water rafting. ---------------- If you head down to Ga through TN. Check out the lost sea and the Mayfield dairy tour (free) |

First let me say CONGRATS! My wife and I will be celebrating our 13th anni on the 17th and we will be spending it in Venice, Italy . We take a trip every year for our anni versus buying gifts which is a tradition that got started on our 1st when I flew her to meet me in Hawaii. The big difference for us this year is that we will have a 3rd person with us, our 7 month old son! I really don't have a recommendations for you; I haven't done much travel in that part of the US. I'm sure that getting away from home with the one you've loved for so many years will be a treat all unto itself. |

Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind words, offers, links... everything! We decided to do be Blue Ridge Parkway from Fancy Gap, VA south. Our plan is to drive to Hillsville on Sunday and head south on the parkway Monday. Monday night will be spent at Cherokee and then on to Blue Ridge, GA for the rest of the week. I have sent off a few emails to get a cabin but no word yet. Thanks again! We will post some pics when we get back. |

You'll pass right by the "lost sea" in Tennesse. It's a huge underground lake. A must see. The aquarim in Pigeon Forge is awsome. Everything else is craps. |

In case Ryker has you confused about that "lost sea", it's not like you have to hunt it or anything. They found it years ago. They've got big signs and everything just to be sure they never lose it again. I'm curious as to how much of a sea it is at the moment as dry as it's been around here. They might be having to water those blind fish. Sounds like you've picked out a nice trip. Blue Ridge is close enough for a day trip to Chattanooga, and the road from there to here, partly along the Ocoee is beautiful!!I was up at Parksville Lake (Ocoee River) just last weekend, in the Cherokee National Forest. If you do happen to make that run, let me know, there are some interesting things to ponder along the way. I'll eventually get more pic's in the "Brag on your hometown section" in the "Tale section" You asked about the leaves, as dry as it's been it's hard to predict what they will do. They may just turn brown and fall off any day, or they may hang on a while. Glad to clear that up for you. |
