I thought I had seen a pic of a XB12SS with the Uyl tail and bags. Anyone have that pic or know where I should look? Thanks. Take care, be safe. |

If this is the one your thinking of I too thought it was an Ss but was corrected by the owner. Here is his description. "Thanks guys. Actually, you're all wrong It actually started out life as a SuperTT. The lightning long doesn't have enough suspension for the uly tail to work safely(it will bottom out at full bump stop). The SuperTT has about a 1/4-3/8" clearance at full bump stop. I added the firebolt fairing, keeping the stock SuperTT bars. With a Zero Gravity Sport Touring shield, they just barely clear. The boss for the right hand mirror on bars just rubs the upper portion of the wind screen at full lock. I wasn't happy with the stock firebolt lights, so I went with some Hella 90MM lights. Using a custom bracket I machined up out of 1/4" aluminum plate. I powdercoated the tail section to match the frame, and had a BUNCH of wiring to modify to get everything to fit in the Uly tail."

Is that McKay's bike? Have not seen that one. The one I am thinking of still had the S front end. Only change was the tail and bags. |

It was a TT to start with. The SS with a Uly rear seat section will have a rear tire rub. I believe that is why Steve picked the TT. I investigated adding the uly rear tail to my SS and decided it was too expensive. With the rear shock getting reworked and resprung to prevent the tire rub. It would cost 2-3 grand to do the entire project right. A tire rub and flat is no fun at highway speed. |

It's a nice idea, too bad Buell doesn't listen and come out with another sport tourer similiar to the S2/S3. |

Doughnut, yes, that's mine. Buell *SHOULD* make this bike. It is really a do it all, and do it well kind of bike. Comfy as well. I could easily do a iron butt ride without hesitation(if I had enough time ). The TT with the Uly tail is almost EXACTLY the same seat height as a standard lightning. |

Steve, one quick question. Does the Uly lower frame section that has the rearsets and passenger pegs (I'm not sure what is called) bolt up to the Ss frame? I don't really like the way the passenger pegs come off of the side rails. If it does bolt on how much does it change the position of the riders pegs? Oops that's two questions. Sorry |

I wonder if the 1125R fairing could be used? I don't remember if the mounting points are the same as a Firebolt fairing. |

i did see that the 1125R fairing support seems to mount to the frame just like the rest of the xb's do. you would have to figure something out for the gages though |
