Can't win. Can't lose. Can't break even.

Does their stereo have more watts per chanel? Better harmonic distortion specs? Does that matter to them more than the music they listen to?

tell them to drop their bike and you'll drop your's, then see who walks away with the least damage.

There's a winning statement for a argument.

Ask yourself are you keeping up with them in the twisty's or possibly beating them ?? If so tell them that and also tell them lets park the bikes next to one another and see what gets more attention.

Dnchevy, I had the same problem once or twice. I have taken alot of my friends bikes out for rides over the pass couple years, you know like the R6,R1,600F4i, GSXR 750 and all kinds of Harleys. When someone wants to start bad mouthing my M-2, or my clothing I usually reply with "When's the last time you rode a Buell?" Usually no response, but if one does speak up it's good chance to make them a full time Buell rider!

Easy answer.... Sell your Buell, Buy gixxer 1000 and be like Mike!

But, hey were not talking about easy here... Tell them they whine so much, it sounds like a bunch of jap bikes!!

Seriously though, ignore their pagan school yard comments, ride your Buell and enjoy it!!! I have to steal an H-D saying, because it really does apply here; "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand!!!"

I only drink dark beer.

Low carb beer and "LITE" beer is for people who don't know beer or who just enjoy frequent urination... yet many of my friends only drink the lighter colored yellow stuff... what am I going to do?

How am I going to convince them I'm drinking the right beer? Should I be the one to switch?

The '99 X-1 was voted the most unreliable model of Buell. Narrowly beating out the '99 S-3.

I don't know if that was archived here or not. Do a search. If memory serves me, it was an in depth survey of Badweather Buell owners, probably 'bout '00 or '01.

Here's one or two I used...."If I wanted a Honda CBR900F4iRRRRRRR I would have bought 2, one to shit on and one to cover it up with." or my popular, "Hell, every pre-pubescent boy wants a Jap crotch rocket. Now that I'm past puberty my tastes have changed."

Just tell them that a real motorcyclist doesn't care what the other guy rides, just that he rides. Otherwise they are just a jerk.

I've found that quite often people who ridicule are just jealous.

All of the above is nothing more than trash talk. If that's the argument you want to "win" with grandstand experts, then go for it.

There is, though, only one definitive answer, and that's what happens on the road or track.

Ride the best, unlike the rest.

Crotch rocket riders are very similar to posers on their cruisers i.e. look alike and act alike, lest we forget TALK a good game.

Next time you go for a ride with them bring along a case of Pampers, then when they're all in some store or gas station tape a diaper on each of their seats. They won't understand that either.

I rode with a guy that had a Honda Shadow 1100 today, his wife was drooling all over my Sporty for some reason, all I wanted to do was ride. I tried to tell her all it was was paint.

Those Japanese bikes can be a riot to ride, BUT, I bought my Buell because it is THE bike for me. I may own others but I can't see ever parting with my M2, ever.

Live to ride, that's really all there is to it. Really. Talk is talk and riding, well that's where it's really at. but some people excel at talking...

Slaughter, good stuff right there.

I agree with above. Ride and be proud with what you ride. A motorcyclist is an enthusiast, and loves all bikes, singles, twins, triples, fours, fives, sixes, eights, etc. cruisers, classics, water cooled, air cooled, etc.
Just be thankful you can ride any motorcycle. A lot of folks cannot ride, and will never ride. You are lucky. keep on buelling. rex

quote:

All of the above is nothing more than trash talk.

If you need better advice than that you'll need to invoke religion . . . you can't get better advise with regard to Buell.

I learned years ago to relegate the opinions of others to "data points". Allowing others to shape your emotional perception is akin to getting in an emotional car with a drunk driver.

As I get older I realize that other can contribute to my happiness, I alone can create it.

Ride, lean, smile,

Let's please not stereotype this as a "Japanese" phenomenon. I've met close-minded people on every brand and type of motorcycle out there. I'd say, ride with a different group in the future...

Agree with everything they say and add some of your own insults to your bike. This will confuse the shit out of them and they will go off and scratch themselves and try to think of a comeback. Works everytime. Who give a good goddam what they think. Its your bike and you ride it for your reasons. You have no need to defend it or try and change their set in concrete minds.

sshbsn nailed it. First of all, all Japanese bikes aren't the same. To sterotype Japanese bikes like that puts you in the same category as your detractors.

Probably need to thicken your skin too, if a little ribbing up your day.

I ride anythbing I can get. Jap, German, American, I don't care who made it as long as it runs.

I personaly feel that the best value in motorcycles are some of the Japanese bikes. Not all of them, but some. I like Suzuki, Yamaha, and Honda best.

Sunday. Time to ride!!

I work with a couple of guys that are younger than me but ride Goldwings. They razz me all the time about my Buell. I just tell them that I'm not ready to ride a 'grandpa' bike.

You can usually find one thing to razz them back about.
