I went there for a stupid pair of $90 leather pants, to wear under my textile jacket to the Inside Pass track day... so I could try to drag a knee.

I left with the following:

I couldn't pass the deal up.

Teknic Lightning 2-piece Suit: Retail $650, Sale $200
Mine's completely black, not black and silver like the picture.

Teknic SpeedStar Pro Boot: Retail $399, Sale $129

Teknic Violator Kevlar Gloves: Retail $199, Sale $49

I love teknic stuff. It seems to fit my (small) shape perfect! And the Blowout prices at Iron Pony are unbeatable.

Good move. There are times when impulse buying is wisdom. You have good gear now. You will be more confident on that bike like never before. Riding protected is smart.

You should have gotten the suit in a loud color...

That way we could all make "Power Ranger" jokes...

Way to go on the deal

If I had an option on colors, I would have gotten a silver or grey or white suit, for better visibility on the road. But black was me second choice, and there's no way I was passing that deal up.

Well, the PROBLEM for most people, is that these killer deals are generally only on weird sizes.

They had 6 pairs of the pants... Size 28 only (Perfect!) A couple pairs in size 30 (very baggy on me).

It was the only jacket they had like it, and it happen to be in my size (38) (was that an omen or what?)

They had tons of the gloves in size Small, I found a couple in Medium that fit great, then most of them jump up to like XXL.

They ONLY have these boots in US size 8. (They must run very large, because I wear size 10 shoes, and these fit perfect)

There's nothing like a 125lb stick figure dressed in skin tight leathers.

They keep all the blowout stuff on the far right side of the store, by the tires.

They are selling out of the teknic gear fast! I couldn't even find the suit or the gloves, and the boots were only in small sizes.

was just up there a couple of hrs ago and got a two piece set up. the jacket is all black but it's perforated but with the full zipper. nick there went back and found it cause they didn't have anything out in the clearance area. got the cold weather kangaroo gloves but i passed on the boots. one thing you have to be careful of mike, and that is to not pull on the insert laces really hard. when i tried on the one pair nick was showing me how he tighten them up and pulled the eyelet out of the kevlar. i got a pair of nitro's the other week anyhow that will be good enough for right now. since were on the ultra up here they even sent them home for me for nothing. really nice people up there and i'm glad i came up this weekend.

Nick was the guy who helped me too! Seems to be a pretty good guy.
The jacket I got was the ONLY black leather one they had out in the rack. All the rest were white with a red or blue stripe.
Good to know about tightening the boots up, I'll be careful.

I went back Sunday with a few other people. I found Nick again, (highly recommend him for anyone needing help making a decision.)

I figured the only thing left to complete my suit was a SNELL approved helmet. I just got a new helmet, but it's modular, so not Snell approved.

With the help of Nick, I left with this one:
HJC CL14 Amazon MC5F

$39.99

Definitely not high end. I just spend $$$ on my every day helmet, this is just a once a month lid. All I wanted was a highly rated, safe, comfortable helmet. Nothing special. HJC's must run HUGE, my every day helmet (a Caberg) is a large, and this HJC is an EXTRA SMALL!

Question:
Do many people have a tinted visor for sunny days on the race track? Or is that a big No-No.

Tinted, Mirror... what ever you want as long as it works for you.

Excellent!

Had to ask, didn't know if there was some rule against it, or if it was a squidly thing to do.

Arg, now I've gotta make another trip up to the pony! (for that helmet: Tinted $22, Mirror $32)

Jeesh are you right! I only rode about 20 miles today, and it was all in the city, but I was wearing my new race jacket and helmet, and was throwing that bike into corners harder than ever before. Not on purpose, just.... because I felt comfortable doing it. I about went off the road on the inside of a corner once! Scared the crap outa me! I'm getting used to these rearsets... and things are beginning to get interesting! My usual 1/2" of chicken strips are slowly dissapearing.

heheheheehhehehehehehehehe
