Shamelessly stolen from svriders.com (for a good cause):

If you've got a motorcycle (or snow-mobile, etc) accident injury claim on your medical records, you may very likely find that Health and Hospitalization companies will not cover you in the event of another accident. Oh, they'll happily take your premium, but they will exclude any motorcycle related claim..

There is a Bill working it's way through the US House of Representatives to correct this.
The American Motorcycle Association has a "Rapid Response Center" on their Web site. It will only take you a minute or two to let your Congressman (Person?) know that you would like them to support the bill.
The link below makes it painless...they have a pre-written message (which you can edit, if you'd like), and a link that automatically e-mails (or sends a traditional letter). If you are unsure of who your representative is, they have that covered as well. You just enter your zip code.

Something else that most people don't know. Veterans who have served are also screwed. The fine print of insurance allows them do denie covering any medical issue that was recieved or is from military service. But do you think they get a price discount?

It is all about greed and $$$.

as a former insurance claims adjuster, this has been going on for the better part of 20 years. Employers want to only insure you for accountable, controllable weighted risks for healthcare. By doing "dangerous" activities you are scewing their statistics. Its the same thing with smokers (which is still legal) they just charge a higher premium for those members. You will see that if the companies are required to cover cart blanche recreational activities, that they will raise premium levels for those that do those activities. And if you are found doing them and not paid the higher premium, then they will deny your claim as outside of your coverage. And dont think that your health care coverage will pick up immediately anyways, as they will go after your vehicle coverage policy limits first.

Yeah, after I got bashed, my health insurance paid up, but then got a big chunk of the 100k policy limits. Make sure you got plenty of Underinsured coverage. Some drivers only have the minimum coverage. Something like 30-50k in NC. Doesn't go far for medical bills if your health insurance pulls this crap.
