As of today, the retail MSRP on all XB9R,XB9S and XB9S low have been reduced to 8995.00! Now those of you that have been putting off buying one of these can go ahead. The 3.99% financing deal is still on too. Ride to the edge! Dave HD/Buell Cycle Center Waterloo Iowa 1-800-342-7539 ext 14 dave@iowaharley.com |

My local dealer has a pile of them for $8,445.00. How many do you want? I imagine the guy that just last month paid $9,999.99 for one is real pissed! |

...proof that at the end of the model year everyone marks down prices. I wonder if my local dealer will lower their price from $12,000(+tax title doc fee lic ship...)? |

Ara, Budo, Isn't it common knowledge that last year's models drop in price as next year's models come out? That goes for just about anything you can buy, cars, tools, bikes, clothes, etc... If it sells, it ain't overpriced, just ask DaveS. |

Budo, Since "your" dealer has a "pile" of them at that price only proves that they are clueless at selling Buells. Jprovo, Good luck with the wife! Josh, One can only hope that your local dealer will see the light someday. Ride to the edge! Dave Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) |

Making room for the new 1200's. Unless the 984's get a rock bottom price its gonna be real hard if not impossible to sell them once the 1200's hit the dealers. |

Dyan, I wonder how HD sells all those 883's with the 1200's sitting right next to them. A salesman you are not. |

Blake, the 883's are a hell of a lot cheaper plus its only $1000 to have your motor turned into a 1200. Notice I mentioned it will be hard to sell the 984's unless they have a rock bottom price?? Price them $2500 less than the 1200's & then they will sell. Geez, you really need to work on that reading comprehension. |

When I bought my 883, the 1200's were $2,700 higher. Nallin's 1200 kit is $995. Harley's 1200 upgrade (parts only) can be had for less than $600. 883 or 1200? $2,700 savings upfront. Not a tough choice for me. (and the 883 was a color I liked, black!) |

Did I miss an announcement regarding XB12s? Are they a reality? If so, I expect there will still be a market for the 9s. Big jump from a Blast to an XB12 |

Nothing official yet...but count on it. Why else discount the XB's unless a newer better model is coming out? If its the same old same old the price would be the same, much as Harley & Buell has done in the past when the only new items were color combos. 2 reasons to drop prices...there is a bigger faster better model coming out, so unload the old while you still have the chance or sales are slow & dealers are desperate to unload em. Which one would you bet on? Im taking option #1. |

Or, drop the price because you have growing market share in a declining market, bikes are being sold by dealers at $8995 anyway, and you want to get the word out to get floor traffic and capture even more market share. Oh my gosh, Dyna, a 3rd answer! More than two? Is it possible? |

I agree, just haven't heard anything official yet. I'd still like to know if they're going to do anything about the fuel capacity. |

I paid $9,995 plus $300 set-up, almost exactly one year ago. I could have saved money by waiting, but would have lost a year of GREAT riding. That's GOTTA be worth $1,000 (to me, anyway) |

Or, drop the price because you have growing market share in a declining market We have all seen the sales numbers posted by Jose & the market share numbers regarding Buell are not going up. They have remained flatlined, neither up nor down. |

My year ; 53 weeks actually has easily been worth the price of the bike. Who needs the Xtra 200cc's. I can't wait for Erik's next iteration of this concept. |

Dyna, Flat sales in a shrinking market = growing market share. But I've not seen any recent sales figures. The one's José posted were thru year end 2002 if I recall correctly. FastEddieB, That picture is priceless. edited by blake on June 07, 2003 |

$8,995 is more correct for MSRP, imho. I got my XB9S in December for less than that, which included set up and delivery. BUT, I agree with FastEddie, the fun factor pretty much takes care of having paid more. The XB's don't seem to be selling that well in my area. However, the chromed Harleys sure move out the door. The BBQ's at the dealership clearly show how small Buell is in the HD empire: mostly all dudes there with chaps/vests/bandanas/attitude. |

Blake: And all interesting cities within one day on wheels: Berlin, Paris, Brussels, London, HULL, Copenhagen, Bern and Heidelberg to name a few, or within a couple of hours by plane Rome, Florence,Milan, Monaco, Athens, Madrid, Barcelona, Dublin, Stockholm, Moscow, Budapest etc. Everywhere the same timezone, same money and the people understand your language. Exception of course for the British Islands where they are talking a funny language, have their own time zone, money, traffic rules and measuring systems and cops without guns, beer without bubbles. Drifting off topic? Nah, your own fault. But you are expected now. Hans |

>>>I wonder how HD sells all those 883's with the 1200's sitting right next to them. A salesman you are not. Precisely.... more pontificating from Lundane Lane. Buell sales are spectacular and I love the chest puffing prediction " unless a newer better model is coming out?". Akin to me declaring myself omniscient by proclaiming "it'll snow someplace in the US next winter". I'm not ignoring the fact that Buell fixed and sunk per unit costs of producing the XB have gone down, not up. The XB represents value based, if nothing else, on the fact that knowledgeable folks, frequent motorcycle buyers and informed consumers, have tested, tried and studied the product and made that decision to swap "x" dollars for the product. Cognitive dissonance sucks. If your measure of how much you enjoy a product revolves about how few folks paid more for it than you, you are living in a "keep up with the Jones" mindset. The fist Buell I bought, by the time I'd had it "breathed on" approached $20K. It was a great bike then, it's a great bike now and it can currently be had for about $9K in pristine condition. It still stirs my soul. I wrote the check and never looked back. In terms of market targeting, I confess I am past the "have to have more, faster, more expensive" stage of my life. Trust me, as a guitar nut living 3 blocks from the World's Mecca of stringed instruments, I like looking at a $64,000 guitar. But, I don't "have to have it" to replace a Taylor or Gibson. Given the choice, and based on having no knowledge of the relative pricing involved, I'd likely opt for the 984cc. Look, in NYC my commute to work is 24.3 miles and averages about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Do the "Bob leaves Point A" math and you'll see why, like 3 of my better heeled riding pals, I didn't opt for the $40K MV4. Most appealing bike to me, at the moment, is that Ruckus tube framed scooter Honda makes. So, 2nd grade playground chest puffing aside, and conceding the fact that Dyna's Dad could probably whip mine, I'm going to go out on a limb and call Buell's change of pricing a response to listening to their customers, knowing their markets and PERHAPS (it's a perfectly valid business strategy) prepping that market for the next piece of East Troy Ecstasy. Come to the Salt. Do, don't talk. Court

Cognitive dissonance sucks. Absolutely, I learned not to worry about this kind of thing long time ago. Buy what you want when you want it. If you enjoy your purchase it's a good value. I remember buying 8megs of memory for $60 at the time it was a steal ... things change ... |
