I had the good fortune to travel to Europe this summer. I saw a few of these repli-scooter things and I finally snaped a pic of one: (Note the tiny mufler) They make all kinds - CBR's, R1's, Ducs, Aprilias etc. but when they pass by they sound like mosquitoes! Anyone know the scoop on these things? who makes em? isnt it copyright infringment or somethin??? |

It's not copyright infringement for Aprilia to put an Aprilia logo on their own bikes.... |

I got to ride one of those Aprilia RS 50cc jobbies - they're a real hoot. Just have patience if you need to get anywhere the same day that you started out. Don't think the new ones are imported anymore. Check the Aprilia UK site: http://apriliauk.attiva.it/modelli/road/modello.as p?id=119 |

That one and the Derbi 50 are great bikes, they fell under the 50cc 2 stroke ban by being 49.9cc's,so were street legal in US. Water-cooled, six speed, upside down forks, Brembo brakes(on my Derbi) was way fun. They make a ton of hop-up stuff for em. |

I was working in Isreal a few years ago and I saw a few of the Aprilia 2 stroke sport bikes rippin around. I had never seen 2 strokes on the street where I live. They sounded really cool. |

I was in Japan many years ago and saw 125's and 250's seemingly all over the place. I did see a race rep Suzuki RG500 Gamma in California once. Now that is one bad-ass two-stroke. |

"It's not copyright infringement for Aprilia to put an Aprilia logo on their own bikes...." and here I thought they were some kind of knockoff. Like the fake designer bags the street vendors sling.

They're EVERYWHERE!!! Slightly larger, but still sounded like a sheep in wolves clothing...
This one comes from Germany this past June. The funniest thing was seeing all the quads with lights and signals being driven on the streets. Funny I didn't see any quads on the Autobahns... 1313 (Message edited by 1313 on August 27, 2007) (Message edited by 1313 on August 27, 2007) |

Those derbi's are alot of fun. I had a slight horsepower to weight ratio problem though. couldnt break 50 mph. |

http://www.mc.honda-eu.com/eu/en/mc/125cc/cbr125r/ introduction/introduction.jsp Talked to a Canadian rider a couple of days ago, and he said that 800 of these were released in Canada to test the market. He bought one for his wife (though he said he likes to ride it too.) They all sold real fast. He guesses that we will be seeing them in the states real soon... Under $3500 125cc fuel injected... I'd still like a 250cc that had a strong frame and cornered like my FireBolt but at lower speed and weighed 275lbs wet for in town. Just ramblin' Hex |
