Hey all,
I've mostly been a lurker but am soon (hopefully) to become a member of your "club." That is the reason for this post. I am a man of limited financial means but with great drive and determination (took me awhille but she's worn down) and I want an S2. I know some of you may have seen the post in the classified section re: the S2T Parkway blue. Well,, the owner is pretty motivated to sell and we have a tentative deal in my $ range. He was asking 4k for it so theres a frame of reference. We have talked and the story is,,he got it at 600 miles after 1st owner put "D&D muffler, Corbin seat, Screamin Eagle
ignition and distributor, Accel spark plug wires, high flow heads and cams" he then "installed a Mikuni HSR 42
carb" and rode it for 35k trouble free. Two years ago he "installed
Thunderstorm heads, pistons, and new gaskets from the cylinder bases on up" and updated the brake rotor. Changed oil every 3k and tranny oil everyother oil change yadda yadda. Nice looking bike comes with deep and narrow covers, lowers and fairing bags, covers and "a Buell Race exhaust header
with a 2" collector, and a suitable slip-on Supertrapp muffler. Any concerns for the bottom end ( rearched the KV but couldnt find much on the bottomed)? Whats you guys impression? Seems like a good guy, and is going to meet me half way on the delivery. His character aside,, would you buy the bike if you knew the 4500-5000 for a lower mileage bike was outta reach for some time? Thanks for your brain power ,,,,jm

Do you have anyone nearby that is familiar with Buell bikes, especially the S2's? Talk is cheap. Anyone who has ever been in the saddle and done road time will know whether the bike's is all it's said to be...

Did a specific dealer do any of the engine work? Get a VIN and call the dealer to verify any service work and recall work.

What about the rear isolators and wheel bearings?

Would you know a T-Storm head on an S2 motor?

Maybe the seller has receipts from a dealer where he ordered parts that will verify T-Storm heads and pistons.

Hey you engineers and machinists! Any life left in that XL lower?

Are you mechanically inclined at all?

Even if it's just mostly there, you'll enjoy the ride enough to justify what ever it needs. Sounds a bit pricey for the mileage but if it's solid as claimed you'll be very happy.

Do a search on Cycle trader on line for price comparison. He is actually in the ball park with the extras he has--ie bags etc.I have 75,000 miles on mine and if not for my stupidity,I would still have stock bottom end.Top end was redone when I put on T-storm heads etc.Give it a good test ride to check out trans etc.Check up on service history, and you are good to go.S-2's rock.

Sounds like a great deal to me. Tell him you want the right to back out if it doesn't meet your expectations when you see it in person. Most Buell owners, especially those that put mileage on their bikes, seem to be reputable people.

Meet at a shop (motorcycle) that will (can) perform leak down and compression test. leak down should be about 10 % NO more , compression s/ be between 90 psi to 110 psi BUT WHATEVER the numbers are BOTH CYLINDERS SHOULD BE EVEN . If not offer 3200. Then send the bike Mr .Wilson You really cant go wrong! The labor for these two test SHOULD not be MORE than 1/2 HOUR. Chances are it's a good bike. S2's seem to attract "good people" sounds corny ,but i deal with thousands of motorcycle people.
