I'm ok, but it's due to Fate. I can say that Aikido saved my life.

I had a tentative date last night. I left work in Richfield at 5:20 (about 1/2 hour south of Minneapolis in rush hour traffic), and if I would have gotten ahold of the girl I was going to meet I would have been crossing that bridge on my bike within 10 minutes of that happening.

She didn't answer, so I went to Aikido class instead.

I'm still waiting to hear back from some friend who live within a 1/2 mile of there.

Was on call last night for the U of MN when the beeper went off! Read the message and sure thought it was a drill. We emergency responders think this way!!! Called in...no F'in drill. We have research buildings and our steam plant right by the bridge, one of them not more than 30 yards away. Had to inspect these facilities last night! Anyway back to work! Be safe out there!

Court,
Thanks for the call, once again the character of Badwebbers is revealed.
Your concern is much appreciated and very touching.

All is well in the Johnson household.
All friends and family accounted for.
A coworker went over the bridge at about 6:01 last night. It went down at 6:05.
His brother and him usually cross paths in the area of the bridge as one is heading home and the other is heading home.
His brother decided to take another route last night...
So far, we've heard of no General Mills employees that were involved but that could change.

I've driven over that bridge a thousand times. Never even gave it a passing thought.
Fate and timing, sometimes that's all it boils down to.
I'm still stunned, I used to work not more than 4 blocks from that bridge. There used to be a Hardy's right next to the bridge on University Ave. We would walk under the bridge where you see the squashed railroad cars to get there for lunch.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, there are still about 30 or so missing and unaccounted for.
I cannot begin to comprehend what their families are going through. They need our strength to get through this.

Give your loved ones an extra big hugh when you see them.
You just never know....

Thankyou for caring Bad Web, this is a great family.

Brad

Well as it turns out, there was one employee involved.
Not suprising I guess since we have over 2500 folks on our corporate campus.
Her car went down but she walked away from it.
I think I would have stopped and bought a lottery ticket on the way home!

He's a videographer but carries a sdigital still at all times.
