The local dealership had the Harley demo fleet last weekend. I had no plans for Sunday, so I said what the hell. At least I'll get some free grillings!

I ended up demoing one of these bad lads:

Sure, it may be considered a girls bike... but I don't need no stinking huge 600lb cruiser.

It felt like a toy! I'm a small guy (hmmm, that could lead to some bad comments), but this bike felt TINY! 25.5" seat height! (Which I like!)

I ended up being the first rider behind the lead guy, and between him flying, and me... accidentally delaying leaving every stop sign, then having to catch up to him, I really got to romp on the thing! I couldn't quite get the front tire off the ground shifting HARD into second, but it was close!

I also managed to drag a foot peg!!! It couldn'n have played out any better... long straight driveway, 90 degree turn, long straight driveway.... Lead rider far enough in front of me... 20 some big Harleys putting along right behind me, coming up to the corner I drop it down to first gear, lean off the inside of the bike, lay into the throttle, and carve through the corner a grindin away!

Needless to say I had a huge grin on my face when we were done, and I got some interesting looks from a few of the guys that were behind me!

The thing was not fast by any means. I hit the rev limiter in 2nd once by surprise and layed into 3rd a bit, looked down and wasn't going much over 60.

I think if I had to get a cruiser, this might be it. It would need some customization:
Small go-fast parts
A removable seat for the lady
Removable hard bags
The oversized tank (4.5 gal.)

But I could get used to it.

BUT for now, since I DON'T have to get a cruiser... I'd take a Uly to do the same thing that bike would do, only much faster!

That is a great bike ! Like someone else said on this board " why should I pay $5000. more for 3 extra horsepower and 300 additional pounds ?" . Girls bike my a$$, I have smoked my share of geezer glides and jap cruisers with my slightly moded 1991 883. : )

Just imagine if it had been this

Then you could have really gotten some lean... for a cruiser.

You know, I almost got into a fight with someone over this same topic...

came down to......

Womans bike? Bet you couldnt ride a pre-rubber mount sporty 200 miles....

Him, why would I ride 200 miles?????

I was speechless, and my buddy laughed his ass off.....

Mr typical RUB, thought he was gonna have a heart attack...

LOL, I rode 200+ miles the other day after work for no reason and with no destination. Just looking for new twisty roads.

I was hoping the XR1200 would be offered at least for a year or two. But considering that the Street-Rod has been discontinued it doesn't appear that "sporty" bikes appeal to the average Harley buyer.
Is it any wonder why there's a rift between HD and Buell. Just raising a bike up and putting a sport suspension on it is enough to scare HD riders away.
