Ed(Rotzaruck) is going in for his second surgery on his knee bright and early in the morning. Please keep him in your prayers. It's to be another 3 hour surgery with an overnight stay.
Thanks all.

Thanks Oldog & Wile. I don't know about the hospital having that. But it'd be pretty cool for him to find when he gets home. You can send a card to his personal email: aconundrumataoldotcom. I know there are several free e-card services.
Ya'll are great!!
Thanks!

Thank you all! We're home now.
Ed was in surgery for close to five hours. The doc was pleased with all he accomplished and the outcome. His leg is going to be immobilized for 4-6 weeks to allow it time to heal. This is due to his bone not being as strong as a young man's. Just keep those prayers going for a quick recovery! The doc is concerned about the left side that he repaired last time. It hasn't tightened up like he'd hoped. Part of it is because Ed tried to overdue it. If this doesn't do any better, he may have to go back in and replace that tendon.
So M2statz, I may need to borrow that maul to keep him in line!!
Ed said "his survival rate is still at 100%"!! I say, only if he follows the docs rules
Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers!

Beck - Most of us have some really good tie downs we can share with you if this will keep Ed off that leg! If he wants to ride that new Firebolt, he'd better take care of himself.

Glad the surgery was successful. Maybe since Ed got word that the left side isn't all it should be, he will heed the warning and take it easy this go round. Does the doctor think with proper time healing time now it can still strengthen?

Take good care of him and yourself. Keep us posted and we'll keep praying for a full recovery.

Kristi

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers folks. I'm still a bit foggy, and trying to comprehend this working on healing by NOT doing anything. I'll try. Still can't complain, though, still in much better shape than many others.
Before I take my next nap time pill, I have an announcement:
WOULD THE OWNER OF THE LARGE SUV PLEASE MOVE IT IMMEDIATELY. IT'S PARKED ON MY LEFT LEG.

I'm very glad for you. Now, a bit of advice. Take it easy and rest up for the first week. I mean, DO NOTHING!!! It will make all the difference in the world! take it from someone that knows. Not only will it make you heal quicker, your body will love you for it. Did they tell you to keep leg propped up? If so do it. It'll help swelling stay down. If you can ice it down do that. 20 min on 20 off. That will keep the pains down. Try to stay away from alcohol too. It only increases you blood pressure and helps the swelling go up. BTW I'm glad your healing up. Good luck

can you tell me what procedure was done? I am going in for my 3rd knee surgery soon. When I had my last one done the Doc told me that I would need to have my ACL replaced. I think that I am going to have to have it done this time and was wondering if this is what you had done.

Just wondering what I'm in for......... : (

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks guys
Wile, last time they had me in Pt almost immediately, but this time, it's do nothing for at least two weeks, when I go back to the doc. I can't even drive my truck. How is your healing process coming along?

Jim, this time he repaired my ACL and PCL. I don't know how that compares to replacing one. Maybe somebody has had that done and will speak up. I have a feeling it would be more fun to go fishing or eat cake or something though.
Rotzaruck!!!

Damnut,

I had my ACL replaced 2002. It was "scoped" and the scars are barely visible. The Doc used a cadaver tendon to replace mine. Recovery time was about 3 months. The Doc ordered me one of those "Stone Cold Steve Austin" knee braces and back to work I went!

Expect to be off your feet for at least a week, crutches for the next 3-9 weeks. Be sure to take it easy during the recovery process. If you damage it during recovery, they have to start all over with the surgery again. Also be sure to follow the recovery exercises to regain as much motion in your knee as possible. Watch out for the electro shock theraphy... I think they enjoy that just a little too much!!!!!

Good luck with it.

Rotzaruck,

Sorry about the SUV that was parked on your leg. My son had the keys and when he was moving it off my chest he had to park it somewhere! Glad to see you are doing OK.

Have you guys heard from Nevrenuf lately? I haven't seen him on the board lately with his move and all.

Etennuly,
Nevr came by Thursday evening to check on me, he was fine, just working a lot. He was planning on riding to Huntsville Friday. I just read where he posted last night he had trouble. I was a bit miffed that he didn't call for help, until I stopped to think, "well gee Ed, what help could you be?" I guess he was afraid to let me know he had trouble, concerned about what I might do, or try to do!(he'd just been advising me to try and be careful after all). Doc wrote in his instructions "NO DRIVING", it's killin me; (think he's figured me out too)
I'll have to call tomorrow and see if he's got things under control, I can at least offer encouragement.
That SUV's gonna kill us all, I've been through that rib thing too, and yeah, that's about what it feels like!!Not so bad unless you do strenuous stuff, like BREATHING!!
Rotzaruck!!

Thanks. Nevr is pretty resourceful.

I'm doing much better this weekend than last. Breathing is fine, lying down is difficult, coughing is bad, and sneezing.......well.....might as well wreck again.

I feel for you, it is so tough to stop everything to wait for healing when you feel good otherwise. Best of luck with that!
