Good job I was wearing all the kit.

Hey Mr Insurance man, time to do your bit.....

stiff & sore but that's the advantage of riding well kitted up, if I'd been in a paddock jacket & jeans I'd be in intensive care, & without a helmet I'd be the wrong side of the grass!

OH NO!

I do sincerely hope that this is not the first of a series of guys totalling their Tubers just to justify/finance the purchase of an 1125R!

PS. If anyone else is planning on dropping their bike off the back of the truck in order to simulate an accident, it might be useful to remember that in a motorcycle crash, the forks are normally bent backwards, not forwards.

OK?

Innes,
I hope you weren't trying out that sticker position while riding?

p.s. Oz says high. We had a great time this weekend.

"the forks are normally bent backwards, not forwards."

That's just another Buell chopper with a raked out front end.

I've already got a set of USD forks in the garage; Going to take it to a friend who's an indie Buell/HD specialist & if the frame's not bent it'll get rebuilt.

Needs, Forks, Headlight, front wheel (had a new pirelli on too, dang), exhaust system, isolators, rear light, clutch cable & a few other odd bits & pieces.

What happened was this,

I've been running back & forth France/UK for the last 3weeks, got home sat afternoon after 7 days on the road. Wife & boy gone out so I'll go for a blast, had a great ride round some of my favourite local roads, & stopped at a friends place about 3 miles from home to say hi;
Well from his place to mine is twisty lumpy back road & I know it very well, I came on a left hander & saw a van coming towards the bend from the other way, reflexes took over & I braked & dived to the side to avoid him he did the same, problem is it was the UK reflexes that took over & I went left, in the front of a Renault extra van & over the top, landed flat on my arse & back in the middle of the road.

I'd like to say a very big thank you to Mr Shoei & a number of anonymous cows.

The only visible traces are a slight abrasion on the right shin & a puffed up right hand, oh & the fact that I walk like a man of ninety & swear more than usual.

to all & sundry thanks for your thoughts & best wishes, & WEAR YOUR GEAR that's what it's for, better to sweat than bleed.

RT, yeah oil filter got taken out by the front wheel. Engine cases look good, motor appears untouched.

Bomber, thanks for the thought, gotta wait for the insurance to inspect & tell me what's what. If it's a write off I'll maybe go see about a TT.

I'm still a bit sore, groin, right hand, & back, but drove the Discovery today with no problems for the gears.
Very lucky but well equipped, I bounce well evidently.

Mr_g,

I know how you feel physically. I hope your pain is gone in a very short time. I wouldn't want the normal double whammy of physical recovery and having to repair my bike. There is a certain feeling of relief to have crawled away from a wreck and not have the bike be the main worry.

I hope your insurance program is as pain free as possible, here's to fixing the bike! and healing fast!

Mr.Grumpy sorry about the crash.Did the upper fork clamp break away as it's designed to do? My wife had a similar crash with our X1 and it did.And the frame was tweaked as well.GMD Computrack had a jig and straightend it out fine. You CAN BTW send your frame back to Buell for a replacement, with your VIN#

Thanks for the phone call yesterday. I'm sorry I needed to cut it short. I'll let you know what happens.

Good luck getting the Duece back on the road! Let me know if you need any parts shipped;)
