got a new pair of Icon Merc Longs (gauntlets) last year I bought the timax gloves, they were so stiff and wouldnt break in, I couldnt even ride with them, I sold them on ebay. now I got the Icon merc longs, they arent as stiff, I can ride with them, but they are making my hands sore. I def like them tho, just need them really broken in. so what is the trick to breaking them in faster, other than just riding with them? because just riding with them is hurtin. |

Just wear them as much as possible, as in while watching television, reading, maybe even checking emails and such... And keep opening and closing your hand that way they get broken in enough to ride pretty fast... But all in all its typically painful regardless of how you do it |

I had the same issues with the ICON gloves. I have tried on a pair of the Hellracer gloves. They were the best fitting, most comfortable gloves from the get go that I have ever put on my hands. Give those a try. Otherwise, I would recommend you put them on and submerge them in water. Put them on and ride with them. They will stretch while wet and dry to the shape of your hand. You will end up with purple hands, but it'll be worth if if your gloves feel better. |

Jed, Perhaps you could try masturbating with the gloves on. If nothing else, perhaps it'll be a pain/pleasure trade off. Have you worn the gloves along with the assless chaps yet? Are the gloves yellow? |

The best thing I have found to work for sizing gloves is to put them on in the store and leave them on for a half hour or so while walking around looking at other stuff. Gloves need to fit right, like helmets, jackets, boots, riding pants, etc. I won't shop on line or mail order any of them. Kinda like buying a bike......gotta test ride. The assless chaps probably could do without too much testing though. |

The very best way is to have your son chop wood with an ax or dig holes with a shovel (if you don't have a son or someone else you can boss around you could do it yourself.) |

Wetting them and riding will make them stretch but will also make them leak at the stitching. Best may is to give them a good coat of leather dressing and settle in for a night of tv grasping a broom handle. The dressing softens the leather and makes them take to your hands better. |

Non-Goretex gloves leak all over seams or otherwise. The water allows the leather to stretch (like sizing a wool sweater). All leather gear should be conditioned once sized and frequently thereafter. |

I've owned a couple of different pairs of Icon gloves in the past. The last pair was the latest TiMax gloves. They were the most uncomfortable gloves I've ever worn in my life. Luckily Icon recalled them about a month after I bought them (probably for that very reason) and I was allowed to return them no questions asked. The most comfortable pair I've owned thus are the AlpineStar GP Pros. Fit and finish are excellent, they're made out of Kangaroo for max protection, and look good too. The catch is they're about $200. However they're so well built I expect to be riding with them for years to come unless I do a little asphalt surfing. Plus they were comfortable enough right out of the box to just put them on and ride. Now that I've been riding with them for about a year they're really comfy. |

Neetsfoot oil is also a good one. ( 2 bux a bottle at Wally World) rub'em down good and throw them in foil pouch in a 200° oven for 15-20 min. Taken out and put them on while hot. |

I have had gloves that rubbed me the wrong way in spots. I just deal with it until either: A. Gloves soften B. Hands roughen Then all is good. |
