I'd like to clean my motor up. Get rid of the grime, grudge and bugs. Any advice on cleaning, cleansers, pressure washing and scrubbing? | ||

I've had good luck with S100 and those orange cleaner pastes. For general cleanup just use S100. Spray it on, hose it off and repeat. It usually takes several repeats to get it clean. If you really want to detail it after using S100 then use the orange cleaner. I mean the orange cleaner that comes in a tub of paste. You work up a lather of it with a sponge and then scrub the engine with it and rinse it off. An old toothbrush works great for getting into nooks and crannys. That orange cleaner stuff really works! You don't need a pressure washer. All you need is a garden hose with an ordinary pressure nozzle. | ||

I jest dip it in Simple Green ,strait up no diluting. Then I hit it with the psi washer. Jest be mindfull where ya point the business end of the psi. | ||

I used to work for a big cleaning company. I went thru all of their training. I have cleaned just about anything. Here is my cleaning system for the XB's Plastics: Clean with Blue coral car wash. Shine with Plexus and/or lemon pledge. Engine/Wheels/metal parts: Advanced auto Wheel & Tire. Works great! Its cheap and mild. Cleans just about everything. For heavy grease I use Advanced auto Heavy engine degreaser spray on rinse off. Then Wheel and tire cleaner. Use a garden hose. Pressure washesr are overkill and can mess-up seals. Dont use any of that purple power way too strong. Orange cleaner is also good stuff for just about any cleaning job. Start mild then get aggressive. Pre-Test any new cleaning products/methods on inconspicuous areas. So if you goof up, its not noticeable. Clean= T.A.C.T. Time, let the cleaning product dwell Agitation, gotta scrub Chemical, Start mild Temperature, heat can help, (warm water to rinse) dont clean a hot engine. I don't know what kind of cleaner Barker uses on his tires but I personally wouldn't put anything but water on my rubber! |
