Anyone know if these brake light/ turn signals are legal? I have a motorcycle test tomorrow and havnt read anything that states they are illegal. Ive never been questioned in the 3-4 months Ive had them on but state patrol may see it different.

I don't know about it for sure.....but if you have the original parts put them on quick and then remove them after the test.

I know from following a guy that has them they are tough to see. Of course I have the keller micros that aren't legal either......too small.

Lebanon.....we should get together for a trip.

new HD nightster has integrated turn/brake signal. That's stock, out the box.

If i remember correctly none of the 50 states require turn signals on a bike. (But you must use hand signals) But im pretty sure you need some kinda brake light.

If it doesn't say 'DOT' on it, then it is not legal. I think the law is that the blinkers need to be 6" apart, but I'm not sure.

Although integrated tail lights/blinkers may seem "cool", they kinda suck when it comes to letting folks behind you know clearly what you intend to do...like turn. This is not something that you want some cage driver, who is already distracted by that cell phone call, to be confused about. They will tell the cop at the scene of the accident that they just didn't see your turn signal...and you know what, they probably didn't. Get you a set of those bright cluster LED turnsignals if you wanna be cool.

PS- That goes the same for the blacked-out covers you have on you car's headlights and tail lights. I know, I am just an old square who has learned the hard way about function over form when it comes to lights and turn signals.

I just used hand signals for a month on my Suzuki while waiting on a new flasher, i had no issues with the law. If you just use your hand signals and not the questionable ones, they won't be able to say anything. (I think)

At least here in Kalifornia ALL motorcycles manufactured or first registered after Jan 1 1973 must have turn signals........IT'S THE LAW!!

From what I gathered in the California Code (this is not legal advice!) rear yellow brake lights, nor running lights, are allowed.

So I changed my back turn signals to RED. It was easy, with clear lenses and red bulbs.

Bill (reepiecheep I think is his screen name) knows some good riding routes around here. In Lebanon theres a BW3's that has pretty good wings. There are a couple more in Springboro which isnt too far away.
